Another bit of self-promoting... a couple of months ago I started this blog as an archive of stuff within football which is either stupid or controversial.

It is what it is, it may be unoriginal and grammatically careless but I'm enjoying compiling the lists! It's beginning to get visitors from all over the shop which is good because I think at one point I was the only person looking at it.

I've got lots of stuff listed to go within the archive but the point of this message is a call for suggestions from you folks.

* Disallowed goals and generally poor decisions.

* Own goals

* Moments of idiocy

* Fights

* Fouls

* Handballs

* Corruption

Might have already covered this one Rich but

Football corruption at it's best. 5th goals is the best. Blokey makes a good tackle and remembers he isn't supposed to do that and gives the ball back to the attacker.

Excellent use of the word 'skullduggery' there.  Much under-used in my opinion.

Possible follow up blog ideas: Football Shenanigans and Football Tomfoolery - both of which could be equally entertaining.

What was that West Germany vs Austria game all about where they generally minced around making no effort to score? Something to do with stopping Algeria/Nigeria/Armenia from progressing in a WC?

That's right, they played out a draw.

Swindon had a similar issue in the 60's when Portsmouth were allowed to play in the evening of the final day of the season and secured survival at our expense.

What about the Tiger Cup (is this it's name?) in Asia where the 2 semi-finalists were so desperate to not play against whoever it was already in the final they started trying to score own goals? Smiley

On the own goals theme, I remember hearing about this one a while back:

http://espn.go.com/soccer/news/2002/1102/1454712.html

One of the teams got pissed off with what they thought was referee bias and deliberately scored own goals for the rest of the game. Final score 149-0.

Searched for something on the Tiger Cup game and found this. Looks interesting.

This seems to be about the match I recall.

Um. Stand-up comedy Rich?

Yeah, started doing it in February... It's going okay. I was scheduled to do 10 minutes tonight but had to pull out.

I've only done gigs in Newcastle and Durham so far but I'm planning to do a free show at Edinburgh next year.
