Met a bloke in a bar in corfu with Plastic shirt on (late 40's)

He came from MK........I asked him what shirt he wore 10 years ago...

Reply....A shrug...

He was probably an armchair fan watching the Premiershit.

i think fans can do without 1 away game out of principle.

It's my principle to support the team whenever and wherever I can.

The thought of no Town fans being there to support the team saddens me though...

I don't blame anyone for boycotting the game whatsoever.

Wimbledons history is part of what Milton Keynes are now

Complete and utter bollocks. If you really believe that then you're a prick. If not, well done. You got me  Fishing.

i think fans can do without 1 away game out of principle.

I can't go along with that at all. It's all about supporting MY team - STFC - and has nothing to do with Franchise. But I would also make the argument that the thing that is going to hurt 'The Franchise' more than anything else is for them to lose games. There is a better chance of that happening if your team has a really good following behind them. We win, they lose. Everyone's happy (Apart from Franchise fans - EVEN BETTER!) There are few things in football more important to me than STFC and MK/Wimbledon is not one of them I'm afraid.

My personal view is that I'm surprised that some one would rather make a point of principle - which isn't really going to make any practical difference whatsoever - than support their own team (which, as I have said, could arguably have more effect than not turning up)

Just one other thing - I find the whole idea of The Franchise as distasteful as the next man mind - but who really are the villains of the piece in this whole debacle? Bearing in mind that Plough Lane was no longer a viable option, is it not Merton Council (who, as a far as I can remember were not in the slightest bit co-operative in finding a new home for Wimbledon) who are to blame? Perhaps some one who is better informed on the subject than I am, can help me out on this one.

they didin't exactly exhaust all options in the vacinity before deciding to move to mk.it was a done deal and they shat on the wimbeldon fans.
i understand our fans wanting to support their team.i just can't put my money into that club.
i look at it from how i would feel if someone did to stfc what they did to wimbledon.that's enough to keep me away for now.

Part of the story about Merton not being co-operative was down to Sam Hammam spin. Plough Lane was given to the club to play football. When it was sold, the money was apparently pocketed personally by Hammam, who then didn't want to fork out for a new ground, and that was the reason over the years the stories about them moving to Dublin, and a few other places, where they would get a new ground built for them for free, like Franchise have, due to the fact ASDA wanted to build a supermarket at MK.

Hammam then found some gullible Norweigans, who bought the club from Hammam, and they bought in Egil Olsen, who then helped take them down out of the PL.

Hammam tried exactly the same at Cardiff, buy selling Ninian Park and pocketing the money, but Cardiff City Council was wise to this, and insisted that all the replacement is built before he could sell Ninian Park :

At the wns of the day,Wimbledon fans just wanted a ground close to their spiritual home, if not in Merton, somewhere as close as possible. They now play at Kingstonian, which they nearly own.

I can see both sides of the argument, but personally, I would NEVER put any money into that club. Even if it was the last game of the season, and we could seal promotion there, it wouldn't tempt me ! I suspect I'll get slated, but that's my stance, and I don't see it makes me any less of a loyal STFC fan for it !

It makes you sound fucking stupid.

You'd turn down a chance to see us get promoted?

I suppose you donated loads to the cause at the time in order to stop it?

Unfortunately history cannot be changed and the 'real Wimbledon' are Milton Keynes

You have failed.

If it was one of the 3 last games of a season in which we might get promoted then I probably would go. But apart from that, or Play offs, or a big FAC game, Im not going there again.

Going to Carlisle next week instead. A real club worthy of my cash.
