Feel bad for Cook. Think he's a good player but in a horrible rut this summer. Hopefully he finds away to get his confidence back before the Ashes.

I'm not 100% convinced he will be there for the Ashes, to be fair.  He's starting to look like the weak link.  Great player, but he needs to show an upturn in form before the selectors pick the squad.  Mid August now...so time is running out.

Who is there to take his place though? Carberry? Lumb? County game not awash with quality openers at the moment

Carberry is the correct answer, but rumours have indicated Trott would open and a middle order batsman would come in, I suppose Bopara.

My office "Ally Cook Sweepstake" was a bit of a dissapointment- I had 11-20!

Injured, isn't he?

In a bit of trouble here, lost Strauss before the close with Pakistan 69 ahead still. We need a couple of hundreds here.

Typical England. Got too cocky and complacent and it's bitten us on the arse this match.

Typical response from IOB! are you part Dementor? FFS they have played really well in the other 2 tests and are not out of this one yet, give them a chance.

Even if Cookie does get a big score, I'm still not sure hes the right man for Oz, I can't remember a knock that hes made under pressure, I'm more than likely wrong.

I'm not sure who should take his place as the batting line up is such a locked group that very few have been given a chance to show what they can do.

Lets hope he gets a big 150 and makes me eat my own words !
