Im pretty sure there are people on here who know dorset well so im looking for places to go when im on holiday there in the first week of september.
We will based in Weymouth but not taking the car so it will be train and bus for getting around, We already have a few places mapped out IE Bournemouth,Southampton (hampshire i know) and may even travel to Brighton for the day but mainly looking for places of interests,Wildlife parks little secluded beach coves anything really.

Are you sure?! It's a little further than you might imagine. Weymouth to Brighton is over 120 miles and would take you nearly 3 hours in the car...each way. Probably longer by train with changes etc. Plenty to see in Dorset, so I'd make the most of being there if I were you. |

Yeah i know it's a bit of a way but if we left at 6.55 we would get to brighton at 10.18 with one change at southampton and coming back we would leave at 6.28pm and get back around 10pm which gives us about 8hrs in brighton depending how far the shops and seafront is from the station.
I forgot about swanage and not been there since i was little,We mainly go to Devon and Cornwall but fancied a change this time.

Bovington tank museum is ok if you are into that sort of thing or the old Sea Life in Weymuff.

Yeah im going to try the sea life centre we went to the one in plymouth last year so that will be on the list and monkey world sounds good aswell.

Swanage, as mentioned, is very nice. Durdle Door is also worth a visit. Going the other way from Weymouth, Lyme Regis is quite nice and there's a coastal path between it and Seaton called Undercliffs which is quite challenging but totally different from any coastal walk anywhere else. If you want secluded beaches, try Branscombe (You need to walk a bit to get away from the few that go there) or Salcombe Regis, which is always deserted when I go there (But not really ideal for kids, as it's a 1 1/2 mile walk from the village to the beach down a steep cliff.

Dorset is mega ace, Swanage has got a preserved railway, which provides a trip to Corfe Castle. Of course there's plenty of walks....you can could go to Bridport/West Bay which are worth a day out. The railway sounds good. We enjoyed the ones at paignton and minehead,this sounds like a day out.
Looks like there is plenty to do in dorset so may not go to brighton now.
