This is the best squad I can remmember Swindon assembling for years and years.
Cant wait to find out who has got in the first 11 on saturday. Theres going to be players on the bench who could have walked into our team 2 years ago.
Unbelievable.
I bet when Greer gave Poyet the lowdown on STFC he was saying, hes a good player, he's a good player, he's a good player, etc.

I love the idea of Greer giving him the low down in the way you say. Gus's day was probably ruined. And I agree with you about our squad. OK we don't seem to have as strong a defence as last season, but the strength we have in depth is frightening. Just imagine any of these subs if you were on the opposing team: Dossi on for Peri, Caddis on for JPM/Manky, OB on for Ball, Ferry on for Prutton/Dougie. Any of those subs would be about the last thing a team would want, especially if already losing. Imagine if we were to get Ward... Last season when subs were made the replacements were, on the whole, weaker than the player going off. This season the replacement will be at least an equal. There will also be occasions when the replacement is better. |

I haven't been this excited for many years. And that's only made more so by the fact we're being completely over-looked by everyone. We can, with any luck, fly under the radar again. I hope DW has a print out of Sky's league 1 prediction with a big fat circle around 14th. What are you being humble for? Although I suppose victory is all the sweeter if you've let everyone blow their own trumpets. |

It would appear that BHA only have one fully fit striker in Ashley Barnes so will play a 4-5-1 formation, could be difficult to break down but as long as we create a few chances I am sure we can win and win comfortably. Albion boss Gus Poyet has declared his side have no excuses ahead of their League One curtain-raiser at Swindon Town on Saturday, despite missing key players.
Poyet will be without skipper Gordon Greer and Glenn Murray, who both miss out through suspension, while keeper Peter Brezovan has a wrist injury. Lewis Dunk [foot] is also an absentee but the Uruguayan insists he has a squad capable of taking all three points against the Robins.
He told seagulls.co.uk, "We are ready and we have got no excuses.
"We are going into the game with a solid group of players, who have been working together very well, so now it's time to start picking up the points.
"It doesn't matter who plays, we should be the same team even if you miss one or two players.
"If you're missing six then you have a problem. But missing one or two we should practically be the same team. I have no worries at all."
He added, "There are a few things we need to look at with Swindon; we lost the two games against them last season, so that shows how difficult it's going to be. But at the same time we lost the two games by one goal.
"It's a different game on Saturday with it being a new season. The first game is always difficult, but we're going there with the intention of winning the game."
Poyet is preparing his side for his first full season in charge of the Seagulls and has set his sights on an improvement on the previous two seasons in League One.
Albion were in a relegation battle until the final game of the season in 2008/09 - eventually finishing 16th - and were battling around the relegation zone last time out until Poyet instigated a turnaround in the New Year, finishing 13th.
He added, "We need to change the last two years and that's the main thing.
"People have been promising too much and ended up playing for relegation both seasons. We need to forget about that and become a top-ten team minimum, with options to getting promotion.
"There are teams who look a little bit stronger but that's on paper. We will try to be the best team in the league.
"We have no problem in our aims, and that is to be one of the top teams."
Swindon boss Danny Wilson has a full squad to choose from, including new signings Simon Ferry, Paul Caddis and Thomas Dossavi, as well as Man City loanee David Ball.

I'm also very excited about this season.
I'm not sure our defence is that much much weaker, OK everyone would rather have Greer over LFJ / Morrison, but we started the season with LFJ as our left back last year and finished with Sheehan who was a bit meh at times.
Theres very little to be scared of in that Brighton line up. Ok, they are missing 3 1st team players but to me they are on another planet if they think that either their team or squad is as good as the top 6/8 in league 1 (I include us in that number)

But there is always the 1st game of the season unknown element.....Gillingscum 5-0 Swindon and Norwich 1-7 Col U last season, cannot take anything for granted.

This is true.
But our side tomorrow is going to be so much better than what we played v Gillingham. I'd forgetten how many half fit and out of position players we had in the side that day until someone posted it the other day.

The striker is due to stand trial in Shropshire on Friday charged with a motoring offence, and may not make it back to Carrow Road for the kick-off.

I think that's a bit optimistic myself. Trying to parallel Brighton's situation...If we were without Paynter, Greer and Ward for a game last year we'd have been a weaker side but it wouldn't have left us incapable of competing. Obviously them losing key players can only be a good thing for us - I'm just worried that overhyping our chances tomorrow could lead a lot of people to feel disillusioned if we were to go 1-0 down or something. |

He wont say who was driving his car when he was clocked over the speed limit. They should follow him after the court hearing, because he's blatently planning to boot it all the way back to Carrot Road for their opening game. |
