Was either for family reasons or we never offered him a deal. Cant see a player turning us down for Rotherham to play at the souless don valley stadium?

They have a new ground being built don't they?

Wiki says yes... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Rotherham_United_Stadium

Quote
Rotherham United are due to relocate to a new all-seater stadium in Rotherham town centre, after the chairman Tony Stewart bought the former Guest and Chrimes foundry site.[1] The stadium is planned to be opened in the next two years.

Rotherham United have also now announced that they have acquired the former Gloystarne distribution site next door.

Rotherham is much closer to London (his spiritual home) than Swindon

Did Wilson ever mention him by name?

As far as I can tell he was only linked here because Stockport fans said we were interested in him.

There were some news articles recently linking him with us (Adver, BBC) but I'd imagine they were just rumours, can't see anyone preferring Rotherham to us and they don't have much money to throw around either. I reckon Wilson is still going after Caddis as he's younger and gives more options, good chance he is surplus to requirements at Celtic.

I think we, and by that I mean football fans in general, sometimes underestimate how much personal and family circumstance can play a role.  Yes, we might be a division higher and offering slightly higher wages, but is this worth either uprooting your family or spending many nights away from them?

I don't know his personal circumstances, I'm just saying geography plays as much of a crucial role in footballer's career decisions as they do in anyone else's.  To make the point, if I was offered a job in Suffolk, which was a slight promotion and paid slightly more, I probably wouldn't see the decision to uproot from my home in North Shropshire as a "no-brainer".

Case in point - I'm willing to bet Walsall offered Jamie Vincent better terms than Aldershot - but he's moved to Aldershot to be with his family.

Did Wilson ever mention him by name?

As far as I can tell he was only linked here because Stockport fans said we were interested in him.

The Adver did write an article on the 19th June saying Danny was looking to bring in Derby Mullins or Caddis whoever was available first.

It's near the bottom the article

http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/8228270.Town_to_seal_deals_for_Prutton_and_Rose/

or

Meanwhile, the Advertiser also understands that Swindon have three familiar transfer targets to add competition to their right-back spot.

With Kevin Amankwaah already in place, Wilson & Co are waiting on the outcome of Liverpool’s vacant managerial situation before trying to re-capture Stephen Darby on loan.

The 21-year-old put in a series of impressive performances at the tail end of last season to help Town to the League One play-off final.

However, they also have former loan target Paul Caddis and Stockport defender Jonny Mullins in their sight and will move for whoever becomes available first.

Celtic youngster Caddis can play in either defence or midfield, while Wilson attempted to land Mullins on a permanent deal in January and is looking to do the same.

The Adver is full of shit sometimes though Cheesy
