i know laying is betting on something not to happen just dont understand the odds they are giving. anyone used to betfair?

Say I laid on £10 at odds of 2.0

If the result came in (remember you don't want it to come in on the lay) then I would lose £10. If the result doesn't come in you're £10 richer.

Apply the same to odds of 2.5 and it'll be £15 paid out if you lose and still only £10 gained if you win. Basically pretend to be a bookie and you'll get the idea. You don't pay the stake back like the bookie though because you don't take it off the person up front.
