Actions talk louder than words and I imagine every club that loaned us a player was more than happy come the end of the season. Ferry played most of the season, Ward every game he was here and Darby got a good run at the end - plus they all got to play at Wembley. Even the players that weren't so successful got a chance and a good few games.
That is a lot more important than contacts on their own. If we can't sign Ferry, I'd say we've got an excellent chance of getting someone just as good if not better for next season as the club will know they can trust us.

Will this affect our link with Liverpool? Or is that between chairmen, not managers?
Fitton spoke previous that the links are not just at manager level, e.g. Man City when he met with other's involved but I don't think he met Mancini, so I suspect with RAfa going it won't have an effect as I expect his connections are with Dalglish who looks after the youth's after we sold them the youngster

Rafa is the least of their problems. In fact, he's one of the few things they've got going for them. Everything I read about Liverpool reinforces the joy I still feel at supporting a football club that is no longer run by a bunch of thieving cunts.

They are all at it at that level, look at how much debt the likes of Chelsea, Man City & Utd have, how do they sustain that sort of wage bills they must have, the owners have to keep dipping into their very deep pockets to keep them at that level, like a lot of big clubs across europe without the rich owners they wouldn't survive

Except Liverpool don't have rich owners. They have a pair of leeches who have loaded the club with the debt they had to incur to buy it, who syphon off what money the club makes over and above the amount needed to service that debt, and who have tied the manager's hands behind his back by allowing him to spend only a fraction of what he brings in through player sales in the transfer market. Add to that some fantastical plans about realising a huge profit when some mythical new stadium gets built (for which they have nothing more than planning permission), and an unrealistic asking price for the club based on this fantastical theoretical future return, and it all sounds alarmingly familiar. Except on a grand scale. They're going to need an Andrew Fitton of epic proportions to dig them out.

Left by mutual consent = finally forced out for having the balls to stand up to the people systematically destroying the club, settling for a fraction of what he was contractually owed. We will be playing Liverpool soon at this rate. And not in the Cup.

Six million quid.
Is that what they reckon he got? I heard it was substantially above the £3m that had been quoted before. But they've got a bit of a bargain, his outstanding contract was worth £15m (I think). Though on the other hand, if they'd waited it out they might have got Inter Milan to pay them for him.

I have a mental image now of an enormous Andrew Fitton going on a Godzilla style rampage past the Liver Building, the Cathedrals etc before being trapped in the Albert Dock and crushing US attack helicopters in his mighty claws. And it's making me smile
