I would expect Wednesday to stay up, Gillingham to stay up and Grimsby to stay in the league.
Which means that if this happens the football authorities will almost certainly do something entirely different.

This is only the start of the liquidation process so not really D day. If the takeover isn't complete they start going through the motions again like they did a few months ago, it would take a number of weeks/months to actually go out of existence, and a lot can happen in that time.
The deal is done for the club, it's the ground that is the problem. The consortium will not do the deal on the club unless the ground deal goes through as well. HBOS own the ground.

Even if we were to get the place in the championship, i'm not sure i'd want it.
We'd be nationally recognised as the club who couldn't get promotion on their own, and possibly pushed into the hated category along with the likes of Leeds at the moment. Charlton also finished ahead of us in the league, so surely they'd warrant it ahead of us?

The major problem for the new consortium who want to buy Palace, is that they cannot come to an agreement with Bank of Scotland over the sale and ownership of Selhurst Park.They have a deal with the owners of the club,but BOS seem to be proving very difficult to deal with. Amendment made for you Mr D! Turning to the subject of the ownership/sale of Selhurst Park,it's always been a matter of dispute and friction.The former owner Ron Noades held the ownership even when he moved on to Brentford and unwittingly sold the ground to Simon Jordan,when Jordan set up a dummy company and then tricked Noades into selling it to him,via the new company. |
