Not going to happen. Wednesday would just not be relegated.

Blimey. Won't happen, I'm sure (& good luck to Palace). It would be a terrible way to go up.
On the hypothetical point of who would go up, I think I'm right in thinking that the precedent set in 1990 when Sunderland took our place in the Premier League simply by virtue of being losing Play Off finalists would see us up. Although I'm sure Charlton would argue their corner having finished above us in the League.

I wouldn't want that to happen at palace expense.
hopefully for them this is nothing more than applying pressure to hurry the ground deal

Yep, as it happened after the Play offs, the league would go with 23 teams, if it was before the playoffs then another team would have been added.

Probably the fairest solution really. If either us or Wednesday replaced them the other side would consider it unfair.

But surely that would mean 3 automatic promotion places up for grabs in our league next season???

No, it'll mean only two relegated from the Championship, whilst 3 go up, and that only 3 will be relegated from League 1 and 4 promoted.

I'd love to go up that way. We'd be another quiz question. Shallow victory and all that.
Wont happen.

So if 4 go up, then there will be 3 automatic places. So that no is a yes then?!?! Anyway all hyperthetical. Thankfully not going to happen.

I think he meant 3 down from L1 and 4 up from L2 to make up the numbers, so one less relegation place in L1
