But you could say that about any industry. Personally I have more of an issue with EPL footballer earning disgusting amounts of cash every single week for playing a game. And even more of an issue about some of them earning the same amount for sitting on the bench.
At least this bloke has worked his nuts off trying to turn things around for RBS and making sure the tax payer doesn't have to dip into their pockets yet again.

In most other industries RBS the company would have gone under.
In the first 6 months of 2011, RBS recorded a £1.4bn loss. When they get back in the black then by all means give him the shares. It not like he's doing the job for free, he has a £1M wage. In the meantime RBS are laying off staff.
That said I've worked for companies that have given the CEO a golden fuck off after messing things up.

Good luck letting a bank like RBS going under. The bloke has taken on a job that most people would have either shunned away from, or not had the know how to tackle the issues that faced him. Credit to the bloke for putting a decent shift in.
'That said I've worked for companies that have given the CEO a golden fuck off after messing things up.'
Now that s wrong, but the execs doing a good job need to be rewarded accordingly as if they're not they'll eff off elsewhere, which is also why the 50% tax rate can't stay for too much longer. Well not whilst other countries don't have such a high rate. Although I'm sure a decent accountant can get around such an issue as that.

even if you don't decide to claim for it tans, at least you'll still get phone calls about it for the next 25 years from ambulance chasers. my girlfriend got a call the other day asking her if she wanted to make a claim for the accident she had last year despite the fact she a) can't drive b) doesn't own a car c) has never been in a car accident.
that's what mildly annoys me

Haha, probably heard that a lot. I told the assistant I wasn't buying a DVD with that out on display too. But I did. I have no backbone.

My sister is getting married, but not in a church, and all materials that get used during the service have to be pre-approved by the venue to ensure there's no use of words related to religion. Apparently, because it's not a religious service, they're not permitted to use religious words in any context. WTF?
