Actually I've been trying to remember the name of the main nightclub in Bracknell in the 80's/early 90's, keep thinking Martines, but that was Basingstoke I'm sure.
There was only one shithole nightclub in Bracknell (mirroring the complete shitness of the whole town), originally "the Dawborne", it morphed into something even worse called "Wednesdays". I think eventually it was just signposted as a public toilet, which was apposite.

Ha, I ran a footie team a few years ago, we wanted a name that would strike fear into our opponents, so I decided upon "HMP Broadmoor FC". It kinda worked, in our first match a punch up ensued and ironically, one of my team mates is now banged up (something totally unrelated, I might add)

Stupid conspiracy theories. I'm all for a good conspiracy theory, but some are just so dumb. The 30 year anniversary of Challenger yesterday brought up the old 'Challenger crew survived!' subject, links to a website that offers zero reason for *why* NASA would fake the deaths of 6 crew members (1 is not mentioned at all...) but they'd also hide them in plain sight, 2 of them as their own siblings, the rest as people who look soooort of like their old selves, but also not change their names at all. Nor does it mention or offer explanation of how these other people were alive before the crew assumed their identities...

I'm a few years behind you (not that much unfortunately) but it was Masquades in the mid/late 90's. That the one you're thinking of? Had a night out in Basingstoke once back on the day. Did a little pub crawl then when kicked out at 11 went on the look out for a club. Took one look at Martines, totally unimpressed asked a passing Bobby where the best place was to go. His response; "Reading". It's where we had bloody come from. Oh how we laughed. Now that is what you call a story. 👎

People who respond to "How are you?" by telling me what day of the week it is. This is especially prevalent on Mondays and Fridays.

I do approve of that. (Except of course they should have noticed it's a hospital, not HMP ) I wouldn't want to come up a against a prison team during Sunday league tbh, some of them are bloody good.

What kind of people do you speak to? Is this mixing with the Broadmoor conversation?

Many years ago when a resident of the South Coast, I used to play for a team, and we'd have away fixtures Albany prison on the IoW, I also used to roadie for a band, and we'd go there for gigs. Parkhurst was a bit differnt cos that had right nutters.

I've had the inestimable joy of working in Bracknell for the last 7 years. The entire town centre has been literally torn to the ground over the last 6 months or so - all the buildings have been demolished and are currently just a massive pile of rubble ready to be completely regenerated, it actually looks quite nice in all their marketing images. It's almost as if someone in town planning said "where do we start with improving Bracknell? Fuck it, let's tear it down and start again". I wholeheartedly approve.

^^^ they did the same thing in Basingstoke when I lived there ^^^^
that said, regents circus is a useful addition to Swindon. it's similar to the arse end of the Basingstoke development, eateries and a cinema. shame about the bonkers traffic management though.
