He punched Piers Morgan. That buys a man a lot of slack.
True, but thats like saying who do you want to win a football match between MKD and the 82ers.

Yeah, allegedly. Which is why he's been suspended, not sacked. My point was around the support he is receiving, petitions, etc, before the findings have been made public. If he's innocent then he should be back, if guilty he should be binned. It seems that most of the people supporting him on Facebook don't care if he hit someone or not.

Not supporting him in the slightest (I really don't care, the programme ceased to be any good years back) however the fact that he is being vilified by many who are then complaining he is being supported by others is equally bad - none of us know the detail - but hey that's social media for you - plus much of the media see this as a fantastic opportunity to attack the BBC who are frankly damned if they do and damned if they don't!

I suspect there is a lot more to this than meets the eye, gets Clarkson out of the BBC and maybe an early exit from a BBC contract he no longer wants to be tied to - possibly remerge with a similar concept on another channel.

Plus the fact that the other presenters are joking about this on Twitter also suggests that whatever happened isn't the outrage as suggested, James May isn't stupid and I would suspect would not get involved publicly if it was as grave as hinted at.

it's not that in my eyes.

the BBC are weak, I could see them crumbling on the matter regardless of the facts due to media induced pressure mostly fueled by people who simply don't like him.

the show of support lessons the chance of the BBC sacking him because he's brought bad publicity while on a 'last chance'.

oh and replacing him would be a certainty because of the cash and contractual situation with other territories, but I can't see it working well at all.

it would be like New Order is without Peter Hook.

Apparently all 3 presenters' contracts are up for renewal anyway this month.

Clarkson will become the biggest free agent in TV history, ITV & Sky will be rubbing their hands with glee, he is a money making machine for whoever his employer is.

I find Top Gear entertaining enough still so I don't really care if he hit someone, that doesn't affect me and it's hardly the biggest crime going.
