I can kind of see why the ref did give a free kick and a card, it looked a bit like his trailing leg went through and caught him and that he might have gone in with both feet - not sure the dive had much to do with it. Totally the wrong decision though.

does this not strike you as a contradiction? I think Denilson won the ball and his trailing leg trapped Messi's ankle. nothing sinister at all, denilson isn't good enough to be a nasty player!
