I've been to away games on the SAS coach on my own. Biggest potential problem is having to sit next to some random weirdo, though no doubt they think the same about you. I kind of enjoy it, you can do your own thing and read a book or watch a video on the way there and back, or just sleep.

It was probably me...

Used to get on the train on my own and see Town away when I was at Uni - meeting people there.

Drove to Brighton play-offs on my own, got absolutely soaking on the walk to the ground, had an argument with a bloke in the car park after the game (can't remember what about, I was just annoyed bout something ... ), then broke all speed limits on the road home.

Not that much fun driving on your own really, specially not long distances.

Are you dropping hints hobodan?

I remember standing on my own in the Merlin, before a game against Shitty waiting for my brother to arrive. Some strange bloke asks me if I'm Si Pie from the TEF.

This is one of many things that happens when you go to football alone.

I travel to/from matches on my todd sometimes, though sit with my mates in the ground.

Been to non-swindon games on my own many-a-time

Im another loner.

Wife used to come with me when we were young and carefree.  Now old and care burdened, someone has to look after the kids.

Maybe when they're older.

my footy mates stopes going years ago. Get to most home games & local away games pretty much always on my own, drag my daughter along sometimes but she's not really interested.

Been to watch villa a few times as have a villa fan mate! Lovely ground.

When I used to go on my own in the early/mid 80's, it was because the lads who went in the late 70's had all dropped off after Newport.

Hence you could find a stanchion to lean on either in the TE or on the Bank if sunny, all to yourself...quite strange having been raised on fairly regular gates of 25000+ not that many years previously. I'd actually been in bigger reseve crowds than some of our Div 4 attendances/.

What happend after Newport??

We got relegated to Div 4....a lot of lads got nicked, and we shed 1500 to 2000 regulars quite rapidly.

Newport was a new low.  I felt sick to my stomach.

Most of my friends stopped going because they were priced out of the game.

Went on my own for years then bribed my son into going but he's started to see the light.    Bye

Newport away in 82 was a real low, only compairable to the promotion/double relegation debacle in 90.

I've been on my own a few times.

I used to go with a mate but he started playing football on saturdays, so I went on my todd for a bit but then started meeting the TEF lot in the pub but still ended up sitting on my own.

Working till 2 on a saturday has some what changed my saturdays but I still sit in the same seat but the for the last 2 seasons I've actually had season ticket holders next to me - which makes it alot better!

I went away to Torquay on my own on the coach once, the mate who I usually go with has family down there so was staying a few days.

They over booked (!!) the coach by one, so they came onto coach 3 and asked if anyone was traveling on their own and wouldnt mind moving to coach one.

So I did, and ended up sat at the front with the regulars who have all been going on that coach one since about 1867. That was an experience!
