I am going to university this year in October, and have some touch decisions to make! Do i choose Bristol so i can carry on watching the town but carry on living near home, or choose somewhere like Birmingham or Durham and get away from home and see more of the country?! I don't know whether i should be prioritising Swindon or the best university?!

wherever you study, you'll probably be home at christmas, easter and summer to watch games and you can always do the odd away game if you don't study somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

It might be different for me as I didn't go to many Town games before university so I didn't really consider it when I started at Newcastle University. You do appreciate seeing them much more though even if it's in the surroundings of Hartlepool.

I'm missing the ability to go to the County Ground on a whim much more nowadays though. 2011, Pullen returns to the West Country... I hope!

Birmingham is a cracking city to be a student in, plus you get the chance to go too loads of away games as your dead close to loads of teams.

The simple University rule applies...Somewhere that means your parents will never turn up unannounced, and you can always get home within a few hours.  Both reasons do not need explaining.

Go to Durham and I'll talk to you for a couple of minutes at HMV.

Surely that's your decision set in stone?

Go to Manchester! Accessible for away games, great transport & an awesome city to boot!

You got some high ranking universities on that list too... What with the demand for places at the moment I'd stick a couple of lower rankings ones in there too Smiley

Weigh up the decision based on which Uni course has the best reputation and which City you like the look of living in most. Explore life, spread your wings. When you get a job life is a grind, but you will have the money to go to football all the time.

At university, you'll end up spending your football travelling funds on going out anyway, whether you have otherwise good intentions. Come back the odd occassion and live at home in the holidays and catch games then.

I don't look back on my time at uni and get disappointed I couldn't make many games, I look back and think what a brilliant time I had - I wish I could have some of those experiences again.
