not sure if there's a music thread similar to the film one, but if not – there should be!

Just listening to the new Massive Attack album, Heligoland. Seems quite dark, as usual. On first listen Babel and Atlas Air seem the stand out tunes.

Also recommend the Broken Bells album. It's the lead singer of the shins and the producer, Dangermouse.

Also, is it wrong to like Paloma Faith?

Paloma Faith, yes, thats wrong.

Broken Bells were literally just on radio 6 as I read this.  Sounded interesting.

Massive attack, very much looking forward to getting the new album.  I do much prefer them dark, so should be good.

Local natives is my latest recommendation, gorilla manor is the album, airplanes the standout single.  A little arcade fire ish.  Very nice.

Ive got a list of about 10 albums to buy as soon as money starts coming in (ah, the joy of freelancing).

What's on your list GK?

I've just bought the Field Music album, not overly impressed on first listen.

The first track, 'The High Road' on the Broken Bells album is incredible.

I discovered this tune yesterday. It has been stuck in my head. I think it's beautiful.

dirty projectors
the invisible
Animal collective
mumford and sons
Wild Beasts
Eels
TV on the radio
Massive attack

Also Burial and chase & status as Ive become pretty out of touch with any music with a beat.  Used to be very much into dance stuff but found it became formulaic and mainstream.

Mumford & Sons is brilliant.

i'm enjoying the new midlake album. it's a lot darker in mood than van occupanther.

otherwise i've been listening to the soundtracks for 'me and you and everyone we know' and 'wristcutters: a love story' quite a bit.

getting into dubstep as well as a mate of mine regularly streams dubstep mixes.

and of course, the usual suspects - tom waits, kings of convenience, the whitest boy alive, lillebjørn nilsen, etc...

thanks for recommendation chaps, just enjoying Broken Bells, Local natives and "The pains of ...",

sorry spy but the dnb is a little to in yer face for me...

If you want a decent trance euphoric feelgood dance album, you could do a lot worse than 'Above and Beyond Anjunabeats 100' compilation. Not exactly new but a good album nonetheless.

Also, GK_nash, why are you wating for money to come in ;-)

I think it was probably in order to exchange said money for products from shops.

I think he might be suggesting that he wouldn't necessarily need money in order to obtain said music.
