I thought it was a great game between two good, battling sides, both of whom look like they lack that little bit of quality and creativity to challenge the top two.
Amankwaah and JPM were superb, as were Dougie and Ferry IMO. However, Greer gave away too many silly fouls again, in particular the one in the left back area late on. JFL still hasn't convinced me yet. Good enough cover but positioning and distribution were both suspect I thought.
Regarding late goals, I have a theory that when the opposition throw caution to the wind, the midfield four who obviously drop to help the back four out are all quite small and weak in the air, we lose the first ball and then switch off.
Still, a win on Tuesday and today will prove to be a good point.

I wanted to smash the cunt sat 2 rows behind me right in the chops. Never shit up all game, and had the sort of voice that makes you want to kick dogs.
If he is there next week I'll get there first...

My report before I read back through the post game comments:
For the first 40 minutes of the match Swindon dominated the the game with skillfull football and incisive passing. Charlton for their part looked clueless and set up to frustrate and niggle away at the Town players rather than do any meaningful attacking of their own.
They were helped along in their quest by an extremely lenient referee who whilst unbiased let a number of challenges go (by both teams) that could have been yellow cards. Refs can't win, I'm unhappy at the card happy ones and equally at the ones who left their book in the dressing room.
As the half progressed Town piled on the pressure, however a number of attacking moves came to nothing with the recently brilliant Paynter and Austin unable to 'click' in the same way as the previous 10 games or more. That would always happen at some point, a shame Perricard was unavailable as an option in the second half then. Towns closest effort came when a corner was headed onto the bar by Greer. Douglas had gone close with an earlier low drive, Ferry blasted a shot at Paynter and these chances were by no means the only ones that went begging. And failure to convert these eventually proved costly.
On 40 minutes Charlton turned from being non-league into showing why they are 3rd in league, putting pressure on Swindon and thumping the bar with a piledriver from their first shot of the game.
The second hald was a scrappier affair wih Charlton intent on niggling and whining their way through the game devoid of any skill. At least it was that way until out goal went in. The goal came from a well worked short corner flicked on for big Kev to hit in on the far post. From that point Charlton decided they could attack and for most of the half we dealt with it.
But this is Swindon, the longer the half went on the more intent we seem to drop deeper and hoof the ball back to the opposition. And when the board went up showing 5 minutes there could be only one outcome. The dreaded late equaliser. Deja vu, twice Deja vu, a deja vu without end.
Where I spat my dummy and went mental at the radio last week, this week I didn't even flinch.
Anyway in summary we should have won. I was very very disappointed with Charlton who looked like hopeless cloggers for 60 of the 90 minutes, which was clearly a game plan as they showed they could play at times. Their support really is fucking shit in numbers (given their home attendances) and in voice . Oh and they had a drum. Need I say more.
My MOM. JPM - he was, here, he was there, he was ....

He wasn't ginger was he?
His best one was 'Shut up Dailly you Scottish prick' which considering 4 of our players in the starting lineup were Scottish, I found quite funny. Funny in a 'I almost hope we concede because you're such a cunt' kind of way.
I think he might have been yeah. Knob

Good write up batch.
I feel on this occasion we were pushed back by Charlton rather than us sitting back.
I can understand waiting and attacking with 9 men but they did the same today. Why didn't they attack us from the start?

Anyone who wasn't at the match today - your opinion doesn't count so stop your moaning and get back to your armchair/championship manager etc
Charlton were just a shit crystal palace Swindon weren't much better
tight scrappy affair a draw was about right.
no big dramas lets keep things in perspective now, we're sixth in the league!!

It sounds like we could have really used Pericard today. Oh well It sounds like we could have really used Pericard today. Oh well Yes if we'd had him Wilson probably would have made the change earlier and we certainly would have retained the ball better. Okay I say certainly but I mean it would be pretty likely. As for Greer I thought he was very good second half. I know it is now fashionable to knock him but he headed what needed to be headed and got Lescinel out of gaol after his major error. We needed to have put them away first half - and with Charlie's chance - you would have expected him too but after that they clearly got dramatically better and in Shelvey and their number two they've got some good players and a massive squad. Ours, by contrast, is too thin in many areas.

Why do so many people have to get on LJF's case all the time? He had another excellent game today, put in plenty of good challenges, played plenty of great balls yet he one mistake and everyone is all over him.
Ward made plenty of mistakes today and was pretty anonymous for the entire game, yet receives no criticism.
And how about the twat (which may have been Ward) who had an open goal from six yards and managed to hit a Swindon player instead of the net? Its mistakes like that which cost us points, not a mistake that results in a corner that is cleared.

Francois wasn't awful. Was just the most guilty of hoofing the ball aimlessly forward in my eyes

Just got back from the game
Charlton were a poor side and if Swindon make the playoffs then based on todays performance, i'd be happy to play Charlton over two legs.
First 40 minutes it was all Swindon, we hit the bar and there was a good chance with the goal line scramble. Charlton hit the cross bar on about 40 mins and then played some decent stuff until half time.
Second half was more scrappy but Swindon were on the front foot and got a goal which their play deserved. After this i thought Charlton would pepper Swindons goal but it never really happened. I felt comfortable that we would win the game, but it didnt happen unfortunately.
Thought we played well overall. Only criticism is the fact that when we had the ball in the last 5 minutes, all of our team pushed really high up the pitch. This enabled Charlton to counter attack and ultimately lead to their equaliser.
We need Pericard back however as Macklin isnt league 1 standard im afraid
