I don't mind sending the player off if the incident is outside the box, but when it's inside they are effectively replacing one one-on-one with another...the penalty.

Villa will know one more goal will put the game out of reach, especially with Blackburn down to 10.

The last man rule is a good one outside of the box, otherwise you'd have professional fouls all over the shop, whenever anyone gets through on goal (I remember Donkey getting away with one in Leeds that was rather naughty) but inside the box, the penalty is enough unless it's a particularly bad foul.
