That first article is a bit shit, implying there's a huge consipiracy going on about rites of passage and super intelligent whales. Come on.

Tbh I find this sort of thing far easier to comprehend and far less shocking than what mankind can do to each other.

What is all the fuss about. Do you think that the industrial scale slaughter of cattle in our abbatoirs would turn your stomach any the less. Same rivers of blood flowing there. I should think every possible part of the whale carcass is put to some purpose. Again, what is the big deal, these remote islanders down the generations have depended upon such practises to survive in their chilly outposts. Get real.
