Ferry and Hutchison

With regards to Ferry I think some people have already pointed out that because he is playing with Douglas it sometimes looks like he hasn't played as well as we know he can. It's a similar situation with Greer and Cuthbert. In reality both Greer and Ferry have been good this season and the so called "poorer games" are the ones where Douglas and Cuthbert have been the dogs bollocks. How refreshing it is to have 2 great partnerships as the spine of the side. When you compare Douglas and Ferry to what we had last season in CM there is a clear gulf in class. I really hope we can sign Ferry as one of our own come the summer.

Ferry and Dougie are a class act. Neither get noticed that much as individuals as they both keep it simple and unspectacular, but the fuckers get through an amazing amount of graft coupled with the ability to keep the ball and pass consistently and inteligently.

Ditto Greer and Cuthbert. Greer has been picked up for maybe not playing as well as when he first came to us, but I'd honestly take him playing like that over Aljofree, Ifil or Morrison. Cuthbert may have a little wobble as well, but again, I'd take that. Between them they have largely stabilised the defence this season, both of them talk and they can play the ball around and out of defence rather than just hoof it.

I didn't think we'd sign players of this quality so quickly after the fuck up with Malpas. Massive credit to Wilson, Fitton and the board for the long awaited revolution on and off the pitch;-)

I don't get to many games anymore for a number of reasons, but having seen a few Wilson and having been a regular until near the end of Malpas, the difference in the team now is massive.  The Brighton game just before Christmas was my last, so more regular goers correct me if I'm wrong, but the team had a unity to it that I had not seen in years.  This, to my eye, was based around three partnerships through the middle.  Cuthbert and Greer defended well (in the main), Douglas and Ferry seemed to work together in a way the CG hasn't seen in years, offering solidity, creativity, intelligence and patience.  Finally, Austin and Paynter seemed to have an understanding far beyond the few games they had played together.

All in all, very impressive.  Hats off to Danny Wilson, and long may it continue.

Its all relative. When I've said, say, Ferry or Greer have had a shit game I'm comparing their performance to the way the others played and the way they themselves can play. I don't think I've seen either of them play as badly as the players they replaced did on a regular basis last season, so its a different degree of shit that I'm referring to.

The way we've been playing recently has raised expectations and leads to performances being labelled shit that we would have all been more than happy with last season.

As people have been saying elsewhere for a while, it is not only the three partnerships in defence, midfield and attack, but a solid GK, and good linking play at least on the right side, with Amankwaah and JPM coming into their own through the quality of the others.  That just leaves the left-side to sort, plus the depth of the squad.  Clearly neither Hutchinson nor Revell have provided the depth in attack, and when Douglas was out, the midfield struggled, and everyone is expressing concern about any loss of Greer or Cuthbert...DW has made it clear left midfield is a priority - Lescinel seems to be good but unpredictable and O'Brien hasn't had a chance to prove his worth yet...so yes I hope (as a resident of the Highlands) that our new-found relationship with the Scottish league will provide more inspiration!

hutch is shite and has had ample chance to show his worth.
ferry is decent but i dont think he's as good as alot of others it seems.needs to be more of a scoring threat and take a bit more responsibilty.that said i'd like him to join permanantly as he deffo makes the squad stronger.

Loved the fact Billy got a massive round of applause/partial standing ovation then Huthchinson ran on and the place went silent and everyone sat down.  You would think he would put more effort in to try and get a better reaction from fans but he just always looks uninterested, cant wait for him to go back to Celtic.  If he doesn't sort out his attitude soon he could dissapear out of football in the next couple of years.
