Paynter on his own up front tomorow people?..what do you think..will he go adventurous and maybe play Revel as well....should imagine he will go for keeping it tight....will Macklin play? Will he play Smith in goal....or just keep the same team as last week. Happy New Year to all.

No Revell, no Austin, no O'Brien.
I think he'll start Ward but put him wide left in a midfield 5. Then one of Macklin or JPM wide right and then the middle three being Douglas, Ferry and one of JPM or Timlin. ack 5 picks itself
Lucas
Amankwaah Cuthbert Greer Sheehan
JPM or Macklin Ferry Douglas Timlin or JPM Ward
Paynter
Start off as a 4-5-1 keep it tight and try to get the wingers to fed of Paynter. Can easily be switched to a 4-4-2 by pushing Ward upfront and having JPM and Macklin/Timlin as the wide men in a midfield 4.

Is Sheehan allowed to play? I hope he is allowed.
As for up front, I have a feeling he will play Hutchinson or maybe Ward if hes allowed by Bolton to keep the same shape as the team has been playing recently, straight swap for Austin.
But if we do go 5 accross midfield I have a feeling that Timlin may be given a chance though against his former employers.
We seem to have a much better shape playing with 2 strikers than we do with just 1 up top.

I see Andy Johnson will probably be playing.
Damien Duff vs Amankwaah could be interesting!

Not sure DW will go back to 5 in midfield as 4-4-2 has been working so well for us recently. So the obvious changes are JFL at left back, Sheehan at left midfield and Ward up front.
There again, going with a more defensive 5 man midfield to keep things tight is an option. I reckon he'd go with Timlin in the middle rather than bringing Macklin in, with Ward making up the numbers - to make the midfield more defensive.
So to summarise, I haven't got a fucking clue who'll play or the formation.

Not 4-5-1. We may as well try and win the game. 4-4-2 with Ward upfront and Macklin on the left.

I just hope they are in the right frame of mind. Wilson has to get them to play without any fear. Just to enjoy it and give it their best shot.

Timlin played a lot on the left of midfield at Fulham, so we could always stick him out there, which would also add a bit more defensive strength.
