  FOUR members of Swindon Town’s Football in the Community team have returned from a trip to Africa where they spent a week coaching nearly 600 children and adults from deprived areas.

I hope that people will take not of this going on in the background - a side of professional football that doesn't get much attention or many plaudits.. I think it is really excellent that we - both the club and the wider community - are investing people and money in supporting the development of football in Africa.  I reckon that we are going to hear even more about African football as a result of next year's World Cup, and I know from some experience in Africa, that even in the most isolated places, kids talk about Man Utd and David Beckham etc etc.  So to be in there, investing effort and money, in one of the leading nations of Africa is both excellent in itself, and, who knows, there might be a spin-off for STFC in due course, as young Zambian players develop.
