revell's not good enough, sturrock's not good enough. I don't think either of these statements are up for debate.

i'll even do it for free!

I had the right qualifications to be a current day Swindon striker - hit rate of 2 goals in 65 games!!!

I'll clean my boots!

I think Paul Sturrock had a raw deal at STFC. He scored some important goals for us.

For the last few years we've had two strikers + one who isn't quite good enough but will sit on the bench until someone gets injured. This season Wilson has gone with too many different tactics up front which means we've probably lacked consistancy up front...

Billy Paynter
Billy Paynter/Tope Obadeyi
Billy Paynter/Ben Hutchinson
Billy Paynter/Alex Revell/Tope Obadeyi
Billy Paynter/Charlie Austin
Alex Revell/Ben Hutchinson/Tope Obadeyi
Alex Revell/Ben Hutchinson
Alex Revell/Tope Obadeyi

Last season was Simon Cox/Billy Paynter with Corr, Sturrock, Razak and Joyce waiting if needed (or fit) and was therefore our most consistant position on the pitch and it kept us up.

Last time we flirted with success in this division Parkin and Mooney were doing the business but King went out and bought Rory Fallon which was crucial because when Mooney stopped scoring, Fallon started.

Forget loan players, it's not worked this season - buy someone who wants to join and seriously compete for a place in the first XI.

As reg has handed over the statto torch to my good self I feel it is my duty to kindly point out that Paul Sturrock never played for us, let alone score for us.

It's probably difficult for folk to recall, but back in the early 80's Sturrock was a seriously good player at Dundee United...they won the title in 82-83.

The Sweaties then had some top players, which meant Sturrock didn't always get picked. They could field an attack and midfield from Souness, Strachan, Wark, Dalglish, Archibald, Nicholas, Andy Gray....and Sturrock.

The demise of Scottish football is an interesting subject...

It is an interesting fact that our last 4 full-time managers have all played for their country.

Manchester United can't claim that can they.

Indeed...I was just doing offensive players, not offensive managers.

A couple of years later, and Scotland could call on McAvennie  McCoist and McClair, which meant the end for Sturrock in 87

Kenny Daglish limited Sturrock's appearances.

We actually haven't scored as few goals this season as you might think. After 26 games we've scored 33 times, compared to 38 times in the first 26 games last season. So maybe the striker crisis isn't as bad as it might seem.

The real difference is with goals conceded, 28 this season compared with 48 last season.
