Cant see Revell being a league 1 striker much longer to be honest.

His chances at Swindon went with that Carlisle attempted lob he put somewhere in the North Atlantic.

*Sitting on a bench

Which funnily enough is where Sturrock has spent most of his time in Conference, he's only made 5 starts and has come on as a sub 8 times. Whilst Revell has started 9 games for us and 3 sub appearances.

If Sturrock is that good, why the fuck can't he even get a game in the Conference?

I can only base on what I saw, Sturrock was underrated and probably could sustain a league 2 place in the right team, revell has been dogshit.

The general consensus on this forum when Sturrock left was that he was never a League One player, only got a deal cos his dad was the boss and that he was a bit shit but tried really hard. Go back and read the posts if you want to. Revell might not be the best but he's far better than Sturrock and is similar in style to Paynter, which is an obvious advantage.

If I'm an absolute tool, that would make Wilson one for letting him and go and most of the other League One, League Two and Conference managers one for failing to spot his talent. If he was that good, would he really be warming the bench in the Conference?

Couldn't give a rat's arse about general consensus, Sturrock served a purpose, something I've not seen from Revell yet.

I think we should get Ifil back and play him up front. I've always wondered how fun it would be to have La Beast running at defenders, winning everything in the air and putting those powerful long passes to a good use and tearing the net off his fixings.

I'm not serious of course, but there was a time when i was convinced he'd be ace up front, just to smash fuck out of centre halves. Allardyce has done it with some unit from centre-half hasn't he?

Wasn't Paul Warhurst a Centre Half who was moved to Striker? or am I talking rubbish?

Not sure we're that desperate for a new striker. Paynter and Austin are playing well together, then we've got Revell and Ward as cover. Revell might not be the best but I rate him higher than what we had as cover last season.

our fa cup team has scored 2 goals in 2 games against non league. we are desperate for a new striker. all well and gd austin playing well but we only have one other decent permanent striker. (peacock as much as he tries is not at the standard we need) i know when we travel to fulham it will probably be back to the 4-5-1 like we played against wolves but wud be good to have a quality striker to call on from the bench or partner paynter. if we are losing 1 nil against fulham it is pretty much game over

Revell and Sturrock are very similar in how they play, both hard workers but aren't very good finishers.

Neither is going to play for us next year, why sweat it?

Yes, but everyone else on here is an absolute tool as well (and yes I include myself) so not much use appealing to the wisdom of the TEF to back your argument Smiley

Si Pie is, as ever, correct.
