Okay, so I’ve got my arse in order and finalized the categories for the general TEF Awards. Voting will open after posting, and will remain open until Boxing Day, when I’ll start writing this up. In each of the categories, you vote for one song/program/whatever and one only, anyone who tries to vote for two will have neither count.  For categories where I’ve had to make nominations to have this work, there will be no negotiation on the nominations: that time has passed.  Votes can be posted in thread or PMed to me, I’d prefer a few more PMs than last time to keep things slightly interesting but understand that debate in the thread is just as good. I’ll tally things up as it goes along, so if you change your votes, please do so in a new post- not by editing your original.

That said, on with the categories.

Music
Best Album was already covered in considerable depth, so we have:

Best Song
In order to avoid the entirely forseeable "50 singles with one vote each" result, I've made a Shortlist of 10, based not off my own preferences (sadly) but on the general opinion of many similar lists from a variety of sources. I've tried to include a wide variety of genres, but with a bias towards Indie-Rock as that seemed to come out on top in the Album poll. I must stress that with this category, I am not going to be making changes to the nominees, and no amount of bitching will get your song included. With that done, the nominees are:

No One Knows- Queens of the Stone Age
Paper Planes- MIA
Dry Your Eyes- The Streets
Crazy in Love- Beyonce
Seven Nation Army- The White Stripes
Hey Ya!- Outkast
I Bet That You Look Good on the Dancefloor- Arctic Monkeys
Hurt- Johnny Cash
Stan- Eminem
Mr Brightside- The Killers

Best Band
Simple one, and this is more open as there are no nominees. Quite simply, your favourite band during the voting period (2000-2009) based on their work within that period, and not before. Base it on live performances, albums, attitudes, whatever, just pick one.

Best Solo Artist
As above, but with the added proviso that if your Solo Artist has been in a band (e.g Gwen Stefani) for some part of the decade, you should base your choice on their solo career only.

Worst Artist(s)
The Band or Solo Artist which make you turn off the radio/leave the room at the earliest opportunity. They must have released a song, I'm not opening this out to any Music personality or Simon Cowell would walk it.

Film and Television

Best Film
Simple enough. No sub-genres here, so comedies go up against dramas and documentaries, anything with a cinematic first release during the 2000s is eligible. You're voting for individual films, not trilogies, series or whatever here.

Best Actor/Tress
Based on a single role or body of work in TV or film, your choice, during the decade, the male or female whose acting skills have impressed you the most

Best TV Show- Drama
Any TV Show whose main role is not comedic is open for voting here. Can anything beat The Wire? Certainly nothing has in other polls of this kind

Best TV Show- Comedy
Animated or Live Action combined, which show made you laugh the most during the decade?

Best Character
Open to film or TV, but I'm expecting more votes for TV Characters as they tend to have more time to develop, but the one character who has made a show worth watching for their own personal brilliance.

Sport[/u]

Sportsperson
The man or woman with the biggest effect on Sport in the 21st century so far- a wide open category which I considered nomating, but I'll leave without it. Based on body of work, as opposed to...

Sporting Moment
The single greatest (non-STFC, that comes later) moment of your Sporting Decade- what had you dancing around the room- Bolt in Beijing? England 5-1 Germany? Nadal vs Federer at Wimbledon 2008? Make your own choice.

STFC Best Player
Not a great many horses in this race, but it'll be interesting all the same. Who had the biggest impact on the club on the field in this decade?

STFC Best Moment
Because Worst Moment is too obvious, what was the highlight of the decade on the field for you? Nothing is head and shoulders above the rest, as I'm keeping off the field matters out of this.

STFC Worst Player
A lot more competition than the best player award, it must be said! Time to compare your Heiselberg's and Ruddock's to your Lloyd Opara's as you declare the person least fit to wear the shirt this decade.

...and I'll leave it there, don't want to overdo things. 14 categories, ONE vote on each please.

Voting Form:

Worst Artist(s):

Best Film:
Best Actor/Tress:
Best of Serious TV:
Best of Comedic TV:

This time 10 and 20 years ago we were indundated with End of the Decade type quizzes/lists/compilations etc.  Surprisingly little in 2009...which I put down to the failure of the English language to coin a name for the 2000-09 decade that has entered the mainstream.  I don't think it's really registered with a lot of people that the current decade is drawing to a close...much more obvious in 1979, 1989 etc.

I don't listen to as much music or watch as much TV as I used to, so will skip straight to Best Sporting Moment which has to be England winning the Rugby World Cup in 2003.  For me, that even topped the Ashes wins in 2005 & 2009.

Nope.

If I HAD to pick one from that list, then I would have to say Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes

You deserve to be shot for that songs list.

I actually like very few of those songs, it's just a compilation of various high charters in polls of this kind, as you'd have known if you'd read the post.

Some of these Worst Players are amusing, I'd forgotten we ever had Mark McCammon, and who the hell is Steve Evans?

A note that if you don't want to vote in all categories, you don't have to, your votes will still be counted on the overall tally.

Another contender for Best Sporting Moment has to be this, surely.
