Never started one of these before, always wanted to - they used to amuse me when reading them back the next day.  I do get the feeling though that no-one really goes for this these days though.

If it helps, I'm really quite the drunk man.

Pretty good attempt at the LNT. Lack of originality on the title, but that's probably for the best in these deserted times.

I can't be arsed to start them anymore. They used to be ace, but there's never enough people up anymore. I'd say there's not enough young blood, but I think it's more that the modern student TEF membership are fucking rubbish.

Mind you - you do reach a stage where you are sitting up waiting to see how pissed your wife is when she comes in from a night out.

I can't claim that I ever contributed, but the old LNTs were always worth reading.  Interesting to wonder why they are not continued these days - surely there are people of the same age as the old LNT posters who support our club who also stay up all night drinking.  Even as a casual member, I have notices the TEF is not as lively as it once was.

It's because I can't be arsed anymore. I single handedly kept posting levels up for about 3 years. It started when Onion Jimbo (circles eh?) stopped posting and I saw a gap. I'll make an effort now and again, but I can't carry it on my own.

Oh yeah, the TEF would have existed and been ace without me, at least on the football side. But I claim all responsibility, good and bad, for manatees.

Also it's much more cynical now. If I was talking bollocks and drawing shit cartoons as a new TEF member now I'd be told to fuck off.  Yet when I did it everybody seemed to be pleased that someone was making the effort (they were shit though, I looked at them the other day). That's changed now. If a new person tried to do something different they'd get shouted down.

That's all probably true - as a very much part time contributor I make observations but I do not criticise.  I don't like the disgust held for those who post on the thisis... site - they might be wrong, but they are supporting the right club.  I would say at some points ( I have no examples) the TEF, although trying not to, can become a bit of an "old boys club" - you have to work to be accepted.

I might have been a bit harsh. It's not completely the fault of the TEF at it is. I can't remember anybody making an effort to do anything interesting to get shouted down.

I think it's too easy to say it's all the fault of the TEF getting to cliquey. I don't think that's true. Yeah there are people who are willing to go to the merlin pre game saturday and they talk about it on here. Good Good, everybody knows they are welcome.

I had a realisation moment  the last time I was in the Merlin. When I went in and chatted to the TEF table I noticed that there was none of the same people from when I nervously did that for the first time.

I wonder if "the Lounge" is partly responsible for lack of new blood around here.

I think the first time I met anyone from the TEF it was Sussex, Birdy, Sonic, You and mex (or at least you both popped up to say hello), and some others I can't remember.

I don't think so. It's not as if anybody really posts in there.

I think the overall vibe of the forum has changed since the protest era. Unfortunately heavy interest in the goings on behind the scenes diminished the some of the qualities of the TEF and much of the cheekiness it can have. Unfortunately there seems to be a load of recycled themes and not enough originality. Maybe I'm getting TEF nostalgia or I misremembered what it used to be like now I read and post when I'm sober.

I would say on the plus side some of the football debates are of better quality but sometimes that only serves to kill the passion a bit more. Major plus points are a general lack of text speak, little censorship and it is well maintained - better than a lot of forums.

Can't say I'm moaning in particular, the TEF seems to be ever evolving and it's up to us to keep it fresh. Shouldn't be forced though, would be a bit too sanitised like that. We all go with the flow.
