No we arent, did I (or anyone) say we were?
There is a huge gap between being promotion candidates and being luckly and average. We are neither.

We're doing better than last season yes, but are we really promotion candidates? That is debatable.
I never thought we had that much of a chance of promotion with all the big teams in the division this season (Norwich, Southampton, Charlton, Leeds) if they sorted their shit out and it looks like they all have now (especially Southampton who are climbing the table fast). Our current league position doesn't lie though, we're easily top 10 the way we're playing so far this season. Getting back to today's game, what the fuck was with the attendance? 7,613 of which about 1,200 were us (I think that is what the announcer said). That is a seriously shit crowd, isn't it? Didn't we get about 12,000 for the home game last season?

I think when you are 6th in the table with two games in hand at christmas you can be considered candidates. Most teams we have played against have said we will be challenging come the end of the season. Also could someone point out these very lucky games we have had please

If anyone thinks we've been lucky and average this season they clearly arent watching us.
we're both.i dont go to every game but still go.we've been fortunate in a fair few matches this season. whats clear to you aint fact,so your judgement is clouded.i just see it differently to you. i'll bet you £20 to the charity of your choice, we wont make the play offs. and iob who disagrees with me every match thread.i'll gladly pay if we do.

put your money where your mouth is davo!
personally, I think we've been worth our top 6 spot, after all, we may have been lucky on some occassions, but unlucky during others, like all the games we drew.
We'll lose the odd game and today was one of em. Think we'll win next week, so let's move on.
Next.

Weasel you are the one that is talking shite.
Vincent and Smith, were never shit. Even Andy Nicholas was much better than Lescinel.
Fact is we need a full back- badly.

Who knew, but Bart is right. Jean-Francois is a liability with balls over the top (See Gillingham and Carlisle, where although Anyinsah didn't score, he beat LJF with ease) and was arguably at fault for all three goals today (although as Jonny pointed out, I think, Amankwaah gave the ball away for the second and for the third everyone was dozing). I think I'd be happy with Sheehan in his place, but for my money, left midfield is an area that needs attention, not sure O'Brien can give us what we need.

jfl and kenedy make mistakes.i aoint seen sheehan so dont know about him.we may have 3 but are they good enough?
i dont think todays defeat is any real surprise at all.we have been pretty average but ground out points so far with a big chunk of luck.these things level out over time, and we wont be anywhere near the play offs come may. unless money is invested in the team(unlikely)
You haven't been very vocal about our average play and fortunate wins before now have you? Or at least I don't remember it, I haven't gone through your posts to check (better things to do), but I'm pretty sure it's something you'd have bought up pretty consistantly. You generally seem to revel in being a bit negative.

Todays match was hopefully just an annoying blip. Its a pisser to get dicked by the gas, but its only one match in a long, long season. A lot of top-half Prem clubs suffer shit performances and results like we had today, but the good ones bounce back and end up doing well.
We need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and concentrate on picking up points over the Chistmas break, starting with Brighton next saturday.

I'm surprised, and actually annoyed at how well people on this forum have taken today's defeat... It wad a shit and passionless performance against our closest rivals. Blip or not, our players on the whole were a disgrace, and the fact they're being let off so lightly, after a game of such importance really fucks me off.
