Bert has finally updated his blog again

http://www.bertsblog.co.uk/horse-racing/bloggers-cramp.html

I was starting to worry about him.

Anyway he had this to say about our great club:

One high point is Swindon, who finally seem to be getting it together now.  I’ve spent a lot of time recently in Swindon board and strategy meetings, and they haven’t been easy.  The finances and politics of the club were extremely messy and it’s taken a lot of time and money to put things right - the CEO and chairman deserve a lot of credit for the work they’ve put in.  It’s starting to come right on the pitch - we need to get the attendances up now, which is not easy, but they’re going slowly our way.

A lot is said about Andy Fitton but less about Nicholas Watkins.

The man is an absolute treasure.

No need to worry about the attendances. They will rise if we can continue the good form on the pitch.

Fully agree. If we can keep in the top 6, attendances will definately rise. A successful side always get better crowds.

When you tell people about Charlie Austin, a local lad who was a builder, born in Swindon, lots of mates who support Swindon, I think any person actually interested in football (as in football, not the Premiership) takes a step back and says that is fantastic.

If he can keep scoring then I think it will capture the imagination of the Town. Especially if we look in with a shout of promotion.

This always was Fittons dream, to have young local players in the team and re-engage the locals.

You could be right.

I've got people at work, who 'support' a Premiership team and dont really care for lower leagues asking me about him.

He's certainly generating interest. I just hope we get more punters through the door and all those who got a cheap season ticket last season and fucked off this season feel like right fucking idiots, esp angry shouty man. what a cunt.

Austin is certainly the cream topping that weve needed for for a while now, but the progress of the whole team has turned quite a few heads this season. People are starting to take note of us as we are pulling out some good results and sitting above everyones expectations. Lets hope the attendances do start to rise as the points roll in.

Agree with all that. And because of that very reason Austin has the potential to become a Town legend if his stay is that of more than a few years.

I was getting pickled at various parties in various countries. Didnt care much for football in them days. I remember standing in the town end a few years back and everyone wearing funny orange hats (i think they were orange?) I had to ask what its was all about at the time as i had no idea.

I seem to remember a Trust meeting where STFC where so close to winning the play offs where you happily voted for Shaw Forest to get redeveloped. So no, my involvement with the club and my support has only been since then.

So yes, I have only been subjected to shit as my time as a fan  Cheesy

I objected to every proposal the old bopard put forward at the last (or last but one) AGM.  I got evils from Sandy Gray...it's like being shouted at by John Lowe.
