I'm no Paul Plowman - or Reg Smeeton (one & the same, perhaps?) - but has this decade not been one of the most mundane in our history?

  • We've spent nine years of it in Division 3, with a single season in Division 4.
  • We nearly went out of business...several times.
  • The highlights: few & far between.  Making the Division 3 Play Offs under Andy King in the middle of the decade was about as good as it got.
  • No cup runs of note (although, touch wood, we may be in the middle of one at the moment).

I think I'll wait until 2019 and contribute to the next thread instead.

league cup semis in 95?

If that was in the last decade (which of course it isn't), I probably would have put that in my best and worst football top ten experiences. Good for the games themselves (apart from the final result), Bad for having to drive to Bolton TWO Wednesdays running  Angry

Football stuff

Staying up in 01 and Oxford getting relegated
League one playoffs
Relegation to and promotion from league two
Giving Leeds a good run for their money at Elland Road

Off Field Events

Brady promising much and not delivering anything
The Carson Consortium
Protests against old board
Bill Power and the missing £1m
BEST Holdings mystery
Fitton saves the club

Two fine strikers and one judas cunt

Parkin
Cox
Mooney

High profile/calibre managers

Andy King
Roy Evans
Andy King
Dennis Wise
Paul Sturrock
Danny Wilson

Competition wise it's been more uneventful than you'd expect with a yo-yo club like ours, but so many things have happened on and off the pitch, to call it mundane is wrong in my opinion.

The Wire is the best TV show of the decade, just so we're clear. Forget that category. It's done.

If we do an everything top 10, should the wire finish above 9/11?

And where would the massive growth of Greggs across the country fit in?

Exactly. Is it's huge market growth this decade better or worse than 9/11?

The Wire is below 9/11 and the tsunami but three places above 7/7.

Don't be silly. Peep Show is the best tv programme of the decade by far.
