... large flocks of starlings flying around at dusk anymore?

I remember being a wee lad and seeing this sight quite often, now they seem to have vanished Sad Can anyone explain this phenomenon?

When I was seeing a bird down in Torquay, earlier this year, we'd quite often see huge flocks of starlings in the evening doing their aerial displays. Used to just stand there and watch them. Amazing.

They still put on some quite good displays down at Slimbridge, near the Wildfowl Trust. Also, when I used to sit in the Town End, I would often watch a small flock of birds flitting between the floodlights on the Stratton Bank rather than the match. And that was only a few seasons ago.
