Top Tip - The best hangover cure last year was to go and feed the ducks by the pond. It worked a treat, somehow

On the subject of fish, piscatorial fans, I chanced to be down Manchester Road t'other week in search of vine leaves, for the stuffing thereof.

In the estimable Mirchi Cash and Carry...not only did they have vine leaves, but chest freezers stuffed with the strangest badass fish, the like of which I've not seen since a place in the upstairs Brunel Market, which only seemed to serve Chinamen, closed, when the market moved.

These beasts of the deep were huge fuckers...big old crabs available as well.

My Bangla mate informed me, that they're Indian Ocean fish and that a big un, can set you back 50, the trick being to get it sawn up into smaller cuts and share out the costs among family and friends etc.

I wouldn't really know where to start with buying something like this.

My old dear loves shopping around the Manchester Road area. She buys all her vegetables and some meats because they're so cheap compared to everywhere else. (I can't help but feel this post is ripe for the ripping.)

And the only reason I even thought of having one was this thread!!
