Feel for the lad. He was really getting somewhere with his career before he got injured.

With Ledley King to follow soon?
Shame, I rated Ashton and thought he could have been an England regular after a couple of seasons of Prem football. Big, quick, good touch, good finish - like Alan Shearer but potentially better and not a complete cunt.

He will at least have the compensation, of leaving the game a multi-millionaire, with the potential to find other work within the "industry" should he choose. So I wont feel too sorry for him.

Potentially better than Alan Shearer Be fair DV, for the past few years the lad's been watching football in a (non)League in which Moses Stabby Ashikodi is a proven goalscorer. That's bound to distort your sense of perspective.

i can see the comparison to shearer but i dont think he'd ever have been better.doesn't look like we'll find out now. like reg said he will be made for life so he wont ever need to work to secure a luxury lifestyle.the lads at our level who have to retire have it far worse

Fair enough, thought he might have slipped the much coveted Swindon Town youth set-up.
