Reading Res. 1 Swindon Res 4  Austin scored two and Billy P. got the other two, one from the spot after Austin was brought down.  Are they the two to start up front at Prenton Park?

all this talk of throwing in a rookie, highlights just how shit our crop of forwards are.
i'm starting to think it wont be such a bad idea to throw him in away at tranmere, getna game under his belt then give him a home debut against non league opposition.
could all be pointless with our fragile midfield, that is equally as poor as our frontline combos at the moment though.

let,s face it he can,t do much worse than the others, tope always plays when fit and doesn,t impress me,hutchinson well what does danny see in him?revell looks good for a few minutes and paynter tries hard but is as potent as peacock.

Think it was around 86/87 or maybe the following season, when Steve White finished leading scorer for the reserves and 1st team. Think maybe Austin could do the same this year.

Austin didn't look out of place at Norwich. I certainly wouldn't mind him and Billy upfront but let's be honest it's more likely to be Revell as a lone striker with Macca and Tope behind him.

There are questions about his fitness as well remmember.

But 45 minutes at Tranmere in front of just 300 odd Swindon fans would surely do him good?

I said on another thread some time back that it was too risky but definitely changed my mind.  Hes scoring for fun in the reserves, our current crop can't score for Toffee so give him a chance.  I honestly can't see it being any worse than what we currently have and if hes not ready, hes not ready but at least we can say its been tried as an option.

Paynter and Austin for me.

Good win at Reading for the reserves...they have a good set up there and wont be happy losing 4-1 to us.
