Can't see him coming back here, but he is just what we need.

I imagine the "We might teach him bad habits - like goal-scoring.” comment won't help our chances very much Smiley

The problem with the idea of a return to the club  is it would be seen as a failure by West Brom and by Cox...a very public admission that, even though it's very early days, things are not panning out as they had hoped.

I feel sorry for him.  He is suffering the consequences of having joined a very good club.  Maybe a club somewhat lower down the Championship pecking order would have suited him better.  Reading, for example - a move back there could have worked really well for him, for a lot of reasons.  At the back of his mind, I'm sure he's also now considering the implications of what may happen if West Brom are promoted at the end of this season.  If they are - and it's looking a distinct possibility - it becomes even harder to see any sort of future for him there.

I think that the fact he might be going to Watford on loan is what might be angering Fitton. Fitton said on Tuesday night that it would be a very long time before they deal with Watford after what happened with Theo Robinson over the summer.

Completely irrelevant. We sold Cox, we have no say in his future. Watford aren't in our league.

If Fitton can't stand the sight of the people at Watford he would need to deal with (purely speculation, of course) then I think it makes it very relevant.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but if West Brom are proposing to loan Cox to Watford, then any contact is between West Brom and Watford. If we want to propose him coming back here as an alternative, surely we do that by talking to West Brom, not Watford? So why would Fitton need to deal with Watford at all?

I think he has done what he can by talking to Cox direct. Coxy will know he can come back & if he wants too will no doubt get on to his Manager about it

I was responding to Ardiles, not Fitton. I don't think Fitton's suggested anything of the sort.

I think it's important to remember that Cox wasn't really signed by Roberto Di Matteo but by their chairman.

It's all well and good Di Matteo saying "yeah whatever sign him" but he cannot be too keen on him because he tends to pick the other sub striker over him, unless Cox has been sulking behind the scenes.

Pah, I'd rather start Charlie Austin than Cox.

I tend to agree with what Fitton is saying regarding his playing position, in that it seems strange that if he's to go out on loan, they want the loan club to play him in a position that's not upfront,  seems very odd to me unless they don't see him as having a future as a striker.

Considering the amount of goals he scores, that seems very strange, also seems a bit odd his parent club insisting where he plays. (that's the way i read it anyway)

Maybe this is common unsure, if this is the case, maybe Bolton are saying play Tope on the wing, I see no other reason for it cos he's crap there.
