I don't think the multimillionaire Simon Cowell will be that worried either way, the people that were going to buy the x factor single will still buy it. It may be a slight annoyance that he won't have the top spot, but he can just check his bank balance to cheer himself up.

Jonny is correct but it's not ironic or relevant anyway. The idea isn't to stop Cowell making money - he is hugely rich already and this isn't going to change that, it's not about that at all. It's to show that people are fed up with the same x factor shit ruining music with a conveyor belt of dull and talentless artists releasing boring, unoriginal rubbish and get a great song to Christmas number one for a change. It's also good for charity with Rage donating the money they make to help young UK musicians and a lot of money being raised for Shelter. All in all it's a great cause and deserves to be supported.

If it was a great song, then maybe, but it's god awful and I, for one, will not be buying that Rage Against The Machine crap or the X Factor single. I won't lose any sleep either way and don't give a shit what's Xmas number one.

I thought most people were going to stop supporting X Factor after the 'Jedward fiasco'. Obviously not.
I didn't realise that the song was a cover of Miley Cyrus. On inspection of the wikipedia page it only reached number 11 in the charts.
On another note, Miley Cyrus is fit as fuck.

No, it's still a great song after 17 years and always will be. Often makes best of all time lists - no. 2 in this one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_J_Hottest_100_of_All_Time,_2009 - good list too.

A wide audience then? The Triple J Hottest 100 of All Time was a music poll conducted in 2009 amongst listeners of Australian youth radio network Triple J It's not on any of these lists though, including All-Time top rock songs: all time hot 100 bill board songs

haha, a list of the most successful songs in the US charts, of course it's not going to be on there. The vast majority of songs in that list are terrible, it's too good to be on that list. The American public is one of the worst barometers of taste you could get.

The bookies have reopened betting on this I see... which is basically the biggest indication that X factor matey boy will win, as they've all got RATM at a pretty big price of 2/1 to coerce people into taking a punt. Nice idea though.

I put some money on the twat from x factor to win when he was 2/1 so I win either way, I'd rather lose the bet though.

Last chance to buy killing in the name of today. It is very close between the top two now apparently. Lot of the money from the Rage single is going to charity and Rage will play a free gig in the uk if they get no. 1. I'm going to buy it now.
