As long as no-one sneezes near him or bumps the bench he's sitting on, in which case he promptly falls to pieces. You don't seriously think Austin is being seen as a replacement for Corr (or anyone come to that) do you? He's a punt, a development player who may or may not work out

of course i dont see him as a replacement for corr, but they are both centre forwards so they will be compared to a point.austin will be cheap and corr wouldn't have broken the bank.
corr admitted last season that a pay as you play seemed all he'd get here.
he didn't get that option, so i said what i did for those reasons.
a comparison is fair imo.

A comparison is fair if and when Austin has played 15 games for us.

Nope, I think we'll lose this one.

Can't win/draw them all Smiley

I think we're going to get punished for not killing off opposition at home plus Exeter have been playing okay (although losing) against League One's better sides.

1-0 loss for me.

You seem a nice chap but how can you say this when you never watch us play?

Am I the only one who seem to think Exeter will beat us. They aren't that bad of a team and fourfourtwo seemed to have them down to finish in the top ten.
They are currently one point above the dotted line. And since when did fourfourtwo's predictions mean anything? As I said before, they are definitely not a team you'd write off straight way, but I can't see them making the top half, and I'd expect them to spend a lot of time looking over their shoulders this season.

And two points off 9th place, let's face it the table doesn't really mean all that much till you start to get into late October. Which hasn't stopped me being all chuffed about us being 7th, natch

Barry Corr was fucking brilliant. He produced a lot of the highlights of the last few years. Scoring at Lincoln turned that season around. Scoring inside 5 minutes in front of a packed Stratton Bank against Mansfield to get the party going. Late equaliser against Leicester. Scoring at our end at the sag heads. Two goals at Bournemouth, one of which was goal of the season. Used to score big goals. Always played with a lot of heart. I even loved him when he got sent off for stupid things like stamping on players.

There were a good 15 Swindon squad players I would have let go before Barry Corr. But Wilson said he wanted a small squad and took the only option releasing him. Last summer we were eyeing up our squad and thinking Cox and Corr up front could be the best strike partnership in the league. But of course Barry Corr only ended up playing about 5 games. You have 2 or 3 players like Barry Corr in your squad (good but injury prone) and all of a sudden your squad which looks decent on paper is actually crap. Its dangerous to have players like Barry Corr, but he is worth the gamble.

so you were hoping someone would write nice things about him?

I think he was a useless cunt, always injured and the touch of a rapist. Scored a couple of decent goals inabout 3 years. Fuck knows why everyone loved him so much, shit player in a shit team.

Hows that?

and he's only scored 1 goal this season and managed to get sent off - presumably the fact he's only started half the games he's played in is either lack of form or fitness?

and suspension ...

I genuinely believe it was a huge mistake to get rid of Barry Corr, we nursed the guy for two seasons and then let him go. Looked a real class act when we gained promotion from Division Two and mentioned earlier by another, we thought we had the dream forward line with Cox and Corr lto spearhead the attack.

I have a lot of respect for the guy, he is a true professional and gives everything (when fit).

I don't really know why but he always reminded me of Rory Fallon...  Big, lanky, lazy, floppy hair and pretty shit, but capable of moments of genius...  Unlike Fallon he was about as about as sturdy as a Taiwan trainer, and on the wages he was probably on (having come down from the Championship), I think anything but letting him go would have been sheer madness...

Or how long it take him to go off injured?

God, just think if we still had Ifil. Ifil woulda smashed him into a thousand little Irish pieces with one of his tackles.

I hope he does play, Cuthbert would destroy him. Our defenders only realy struggle against pace, teams with pacey strikers (ala Jackson) are the teams which will most likely take points from us this season. Corr has next to no ace and if he plays i believe Cuthbrt and Greer will have a comfortable night with him.
