My PC has reached the ripe old age of 7 and has begun to really annoy me.......time for a replacement. Any suggestions for a good deal? Ta

Build it yourself on there. I recently got a quad core AMD, 4gb RAM, Nvidia 9800GT, 500gb HDD for less than £400.

Have a look over tesco's,I got my dell Inspirion from there for £300 (base unit only) which is better than the one i got from tiny that cost triple that.

tesco do reasonable packages or go to dell direct if you dont mind waiting.

Bought a desktop from this eBay seller recently and he seems to have some great prices.

Theres loads of good cheap deals out there, wat is your price range? what do you want to do with it? Do you want an operating system included etc etc

Avoid Intel Celery(celeron) or older AMD Phenom processors, go for a minimum of dual core (2.4ghz+ speed), 2gb ram, 500gb hard drive and dont get one with dedicated onboard graphics, even an 8400gs (£12.50p) is better than onboard.

Seriously build one yourself there so easy to build yourself these days. Shop & online prices are so inflated it's disgraceful considering a lot only put cheap parts in.

I built a Quad Core 955 (Black Edition)

ASUS GFX Mobo

8GB Reaper Ram

4890 HD RAdeon GFX Card

1TB HDD

OCZ Heat Pipe (CPU Cooler)

Antec 300 Gaming Case

I also orded a Iiyana 24" HD monitor all came to less than £600

Try and build that spec on a specialist site and that price will literally double.

I would be very very surprised if you can get that spec for anything under £750 at the moment RJack, the exchange rate is not favourable.

You also have to price in an operating system which will add another £70+ on top of that and running a 4890 you will need a fucking good 650w+ PSU as they eat electric (another £70+ for a good one).

But in essence you are correct, if you have the time and the inclination then building your own PC can be cheaper and rewarding.
