Newcastle next i reckon - think this would suit both parties - he seems just about crazy enough to fit in with that club.

It won't happen - Harry's got his reputation to think of. He'd be hated if he signed Campbell!

Didn't he say something like the County players are hesitant in posession before quitting. What does he expect in league 2, a team full of Peles!

It's confirmed now :

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/n/notts_county/8270272.stm

But I do like the following quote :

Campbell "could not adjust to the long-term nature of the project under way at Notts County".

WTF ?

Translation: They didn't invest as much up front as he expected and now he looks like an idiot being there on his own when he was expecting Ronaldo and Torres to join him.

Seems about right - do you really think he expected other big names to join him down there?

the whole situation at notts county is a bit odd.bring in sven on mega bucks and the same with campbell.but the rest of it is all still what it was really.why not add cheaper but high quality players in a number of positions?

I agree. I think I'm right in saying they got Schmeichel right? That's the kind of player they should be after - high quality but not the very top level. If they got a few upper League One or Championship players in they'd walk the division without having to pay as much as they would to players like Campbell.

And an article on the 'ownership' at Notts :

If I were a Notts County player I think i'd be happy he's gone. With him being on £40k a week, he was probably walking around giving it the 'big I am'....

I wonder what his signing on fee was.

You'd have to think that it was to grab the headline and make people take notice. It is perhaps easier to recruit quality if you show your ambition up front with a couple of names.

It's gone a bit wrong though, the ownership coming under scrutiny, Sol leaving, etc!
