Whether or not you'd sell Macca for £200k, it's a nice statement of intent that the board aren't going to roll over for transfers anymore.

He's right, even Real Madrid couldn't afford to asking price. Apparently we want £450m for him.

I'm glad we didn't sell. I've no idea what price tag I'd put on Macca, but he is definitely an asset to the team on the pitch, so if we don't need to sell him we shouldn't accept anything less than what we want. If Fitton and Wilson have decided they'd rather have Macca than say £300k, there's no point selling him even for that much.

Quote
"Swindon wanted an absolute fortune, an absolute fortune, for a lad in his last year, which Real Madrid couldn't afford," he told the Pink'un.

I don't understand  Huh?

ie Not for Sale.

Fair play to the board.  Two years ago, Lambert would have been asked along for a cosy chat with Diamandis and then asked to name his price.

Didn't we pay 50k or something ourselves. And he expects us to just move him along for the same price.

What a numpty.

Well, Lambert is complaining saying Macca would have cost an arm and a leg. I don't see his problem - he'd be getting two arms and two legs in return?!

its good to hear things like this, but say fitton said you can have him for £2 million, its not as if fitton expected lambert to say, yeah ok, here you are, its more a statement of he's not for sale. can lambert not see that, or does he really think we value macca at 2mill (thats just a figure i made up~)

The Chubbs one speakeath the truth.

Has Lambert not stopped to think for one second that maybe, just maybe, we'd actually quite like Macca to be playing for us and not Norwich nor anybody else.

Can we not skip past the logical discussions and jump right into the mindless name calling to the point where Norwich become a bitter rival? Smiley

The only thing id like us to act on from that article is the fact Macca is in the last yr of his contract...Fitton and DW will have to sit down and decide by January whether or not to cash in on Macca and sell in Jan or offer him a new contract so as to make sure when he does move we DO get money for him

Its simple. We just don't like teams that play in yellow.

Valid point, and that we rate him higher than Norwich want to pay. There is no longer any bargain sales at STFC anymore !!

Maybe someone should tell Lambert that our owners has bigger pockets than Delia, who tried to sell the club last year decause she was running out of money.

I suspect that's exactly what happened. It's what i do on FM, set asking prices of £50m and then occasionally get bids of 30m with 50% sell ons plus about 5 players. It also means you scare off bids and prolonged interest. (In the real world and the virtual.)

I suspect that it will be dealt with, but some players may not want to renew prefering to wait and see what league we are in as IF we gained promotion they can ask for more money, or keep their options open, Norwich may appeal to Macca if they go up and we don't for example
