The Women's team, have done something the men's team have failed to do, and got to the final of the European Championships yesterday, by beating Holland 2-1.
This is a month after the Under 19's won their European Championship.
They will meet either Germany or Norway in the Final on Thursday.

Womens football as a sport is a bit like the special Olympics.
By that I mean I know they put in as much effort as possible, deserve all the credit, etc, etc. But I just can't get myself interested in it.

To be fair to him, I thought Sepp Blatter had a point. If they want women's football to take off they need to make the most of what they've got - which is fit birds, tits and arses. Turn some of them in to pin ups and suddenly you'll get a lot more blokes going. Turn some in to role models and you'll get more birds going as well. Some might call it sexist, I'd call it marketing. |

You might well do, but would you call it football? By the same token, I assume you'd ban Peter Beardsley, Franck Riberry and Luke Chadwick from the male game. And no, I don't watch women's football, but it should stand or fall on its own merits as a sport, not some tarted up marketing exercise for knuckle-shufflers. More than enough people trying to turn football into a brand, thanks. |

I once went to a women's game - England vs Scotland - at Bramall Lane in the mid '90s and caught myself spontaneously saying patronising things like; 'oh that was quite a hard tackle' and 'they're actually quite good on the ball'. By half time I'd had enough and decided the pub was a better bet. |

I see your point but I think its just down to how you do it. Plenty of male footballers have a high profile which helps to promote the game, especially to women, so why not do the same with women footballers? I'm not on about getting some of them to do page 3, just give them a higher profile.
It would be good if the FA and Premier League invested some serious money in women's football as well. Maybe a proper Women's Premier League with professional players and the games played before or after men's matches. I'm surprised clubs like Man Utd haven't done it already, with their massive fan base you'd have thought a good few of them would get behind a women's team.
Before anyone says it, by "get behind" I mean support wise, not doggy style.

They have been on about starting a professional women's league but it's been put on hold. Interesting that you mention United - do they even have a decent women's team? All you hear about is teams like Arsenal, Fulham and Charlton |
