Probably already been posted on here somewhere, but former Swindon player Hamdi RAZAK is now plying his trade with French fourth-division side Red Star FC 93 in the Parisian suburbs. The same Red Star of which I bear the cross of being supporter and unofficial site webmaster, and the very same Red Star at which Philippe CUERVO was a player from 2004-2006.
Cuervo left the club at the end of the 2005-2006 season after helping the club to successive promotions from the DH (level 6) to the CFA (level 4). Cuervo was involved in the players' putsch with seven games remaining in the 2005-2006 season and Red Star faltering in their push from the CFA2. Coach Jean-Luc Girard had staged something of a revolt, trying to oust the clubs' President Bruno Davoine and installing Gérard Cuzin, an ally of ex-Red Star president Jean-Claude Bras in the hot seat. Cuervo was behind Girard and when Girard was sacked with seven games remaining, the players walked out on strike in sympathy with the coach. The under 18s lost 2-0 at Evreux whilst deputising for the first XI, but a deal was arranged and Girard returned to finish the season and win the last six straight games to take Red Star into the CFA. Girard and a host of players left, including Philippe. He disappeared for a while before resurfacing this season as assistant to first team coach Albert EMON at Cannes, in the National (D3). Emon was formerly at Marseille. Cannes have most notably in the past produced one or two half-decent players from their youth academy, including Patrick Viera & Zinedine Zidane.

So tell me about Razak ? From your forum I get the impression that he hardly set Swindon alight, but on the other hand never really had the chance to shine.
So far this season for Red Star, he has started all three games and, like the club, has yet to score, although he was guilty of squandering several chances at PSG reserves.

Razak's debut was his most lively. Almost scored and almost got sent-off.

Didn't Frederic Darras play for Red Star after Swindon too?

Yes, Darras played for us during 1998-1992, the season we were relegated from the second division. Never really got to know the guy.
I liked Cuervo, I think that he really enjoyed his time at Swindon, he spoke warmly of the supporters, long, cold away trips and the Magic Roundabout....

I still remember his comeback - came on for the last 5 minutes and got himself booked!

I remember him over-celebrating a goal at Westbury United in the Wiltshire Shield.

I thought Cuervo was excellent until he did his leg. A real shame.

I wasn't impressed by the little I saw of Razak, but in fairness he didn't get a proper chance.

I remember the performance Cuervo put in at Reading, we won 1-0 (possibly our last visit to Elm Park?) - he was a class above anything else on the pitch that day!

Phillipe Cuervo, some of us nicknamed him 'Gold top' due to his hairstyle at the time.

That brings back memories.

I went to Paris a few years ago and thought I would go to see Red Star play (Darras was there at the time I think) Unfortunately I went to their old beaten up ground (no direspect Monsieur allezredstar) in a very dodgy part of the city (the Parisien equivalent of Tottenham) only to be told that Red Star played at the Stade de France...doh! By that time I had lost the will to live and headed back into town to drink beacoup de seize cent soixante quatre.

They don't seem to play at the Stade de France these days, have they ever? Was some Galic trickster having a joke at my expense??

Cuervo could have been such a great player for us if it hadn't been for those pesky injuries. Darras was good when he put his mind to it. I never got to see Razak play but he sounded like a bit of a psycho.

According to this they play at the Stade de Paris.

Razak made a mess of one of Ash's houses.

Which is probably the biggest impression he made.

He seems a bit agricultural for french football? Needs a few lenient refs?
