I agree Rich, the most his type of player normally goes for is £5mill to £6mill maximum, hes OK but nothing special I would rather bid on Steven Taylor at Newcastle for £6mill IMO.

I think he's worth an awful lot - but you're right, £24m is inflated but that's for two reasons.

1) He's so important to Everton and has years left on his contract.
2) Man city are buying him.

Again shows what can happen when you take a punt on Championship players. Everton are good at it, what with him, Cahill and Jagielka all signing from FL clubs.

On the basis the Lescott is worth £24,000,000, I reckon I've got to be worth at least £50,000 to Man City.

What everybody is excluding from the calculation is that Man City are not just paying £24m to get Lescott, it's £24m for Lescott and the prospect of Dunne not having to play again.  That second part must be worth £20m of anyone's money if they want to challenge for honours.

Inflated, no doubt and I’d value him at £12 million and for Everton I think the disruption to the squad is far more of a headache than it will be replacing him.  Very good established performer in the Premier League but £24 million would get you a world-class centre-back with change.   Lescott just doesn’t come close to being in that world-class category.

It’s clear that Hughes is trying to build a British spine to his side similar to Manchester United and to a lesser extent Chelsea have in Lampard, Terry and Cole but at that expense and in these circumstances are British players really going to give you any better “spine” than your typical common or garden Adebayor?

lescott is a decent player.the way the fans and moyes have reacted to man citys approach tells us how mucch they value him.
24 mill is inflated but that's the way it is with city at the moment.look at the fella arsenal signed for 10 mill for instance.a better player for less then half the cost.

If Man City were clever they'd turn round to Everton and reduce the offer to £15m, now that they've done the damage and pretty much put an end to his career at Everton.
