Loads of things to do with marrow.

Probably the funniest thing you can do is to threaten your loved one with it as a dildo. Or even funnier, carry it out.

Actually just chop it up small and treat it like courgette.

Goes down well with prawns, garlic, ginger, chopped tomatoes, fresh coriander and bassie as a curry.

Best thing to do with a marrow is to stuff it... peel cut in half and slit, scrape out the seeds, then fill with something either meaty mince or beany...I use butter beans, tomato cheese, onions and herbs.

Whack in the oven...the marrow absorbs the flavours of the filling, and goes squishy, very nice indeed.

Yes, stuff yer marrow and that's "Mock Duck".

Another use for a marrow is chocolate cake, although zucchini sounds more exotic.

There's always the marrow song of course sung by everyone including Danny LaRue.  The chorus goes:

Oh, What A Beauty! I've never seen one as big as that before!
Oh, What A Beauty! It must be two foot long, or even more!
It's such a lovely colour, and nice and round and fat,
I never thought a marrow could grow as big as that!
Oh, What A Beauty! I've never seen one as big as that before!

Right. Stop. I can't comment on marrows as I've never knowingly tried it. But you are so fucking wrong with swede and brussels.....you just need to cook them right.

I agree that marrow is disgusting, but swede and brussells are lush. As pumbaa says, you just have to cook them right.

I used to have a similar opinion as a kid, but discovered that the broad bean is right up there in the pantheon of great tasting vegetables as an adult.

Like all veg...getting them in the right condition and cooking them properly does make a lot of difference...for example runner beans, lovely if tender, a bit off if stringy.

This is, of course, a great time of year for veg.
