That was fucking great.  My 6 year old daughter's first visit to the CG.  She didn't like the first half but filling her up with chips, capri sun and fruit pastilles meant I managed to persuade her to stay for the whole game.

Any comment would just be an echo of everyone else.  We played superbly.  Should have been 3, maybe 4.  Paynter had 2 close range headers excellently saved by their keeper.

Great atmosphere, great to see their players getting well chippy.  Should have seen red a couple of times, but whatever.  As Johnny 72 said, the biggest 1-0 thrashing in years.

Get the fuck in a 10 fold improvement on the previous league matches, the midfield worked properly and bossed the game and the wingers were always an outlet. Paynter ran his bollocks off and by the time he gets a strike partner he's gonna be super fit.
The back 4 are getting better and JFL was finally the player we saw in preseason today and showed he's more than capable of being a league 1 left back. Amankwaah and JFL could prove to be a good full back pairing as both are well built, strong in the air and pretty quick and obviously offer a good threat at set pieces along with Morrison and Greer. With the height we have it must be quite hard for the opposition to choose who should mark who at set pieces I would imagine.

Also there's nothing like losing with dignity and Southampton today showed no dignity whatsoever. Constantly whinging, back chatting, throwing elbows, late challenges they were just a bunch of cunts tbh and even tried to have a fight at the final whistle.

On a side note anyone who's slags our fans off needs to look at the Southampton fans, they were abit of a joke. OK a fair few came but what a bunch of nobs, after about 15 minutes they were booing the team, and in the second half even started singing 'make a sub, make a sub' etc. I wouldn't like to be Pardew, as it looks like instant success or the chopping board for him.

I can't say much that hasn't been said already...

Really enjoyed the game tonight. It was a fairly solid performance with plenty of creativity going forward, and a huge amount of determination to win every ball from the midfield. The crowd were fantastic too - the Town End was rocking and the DRS got involved. It really makes a difference, so hopefully we can replicate that in the coming weeks against lesser opposition.

chuffed as fuck. that was ace. Their fans were comedy, the constant booing. To be honest, I thought they were attrocious.

Douglas, JP and Paynter were all mustard.

great atmosphere, great performance, awesome effort. Thoroughly enjoyable night!

Southampton remind me a little bit of Forest and Wednesday when they came down. The reason I didn't say Leeds is because they're not quite that bad. They expect to go up even with that deduction. They should know better especially after the last few years they have had. They can count themselves lucky that they have a rich backer and are no longer in danger of going bust.

To be fair glos robin, there has been a fair amount of booing our own team at the County Ground over the years.  Wish I had been there tonight though sounds like it was a great night.  Spoke to my old man earlier, he said it was a really terrific performance, and was raving about how Douglas controlled the midfield.  We've not had a player who can do that in years.

All players played well but my motm was Amankwaah.   Very composed on the ball, make solid tackles and played a great game.

He also played very well against Franchise.

If he performs like this on a regular basis then i can see a championship side signing him.

Douglas was class too, another player who was excellent on the ball

I'm won't repeat everyone elses praise, just comment on Macca - He showed some amazing close control tonight and most of his dribbling was just impossible to defend against.

Fair enough mate, you were there, I'll take your word for it. They have had a crap few years though - FA cup final seven years ago wasn't it?  That a hell of a drop.
