Watched that with my missus and her mate. I was gobsmacked at that and apart from being pissed with me because we weren't watching wife swap with 'Big Fat Ron's a homosexual + racist' on C4 they couldn't understand why I thought it was so amazing. I tried to explain but it fell on deaf ears. That was a moment of sporting history until he beats it again.

It's fascinating. What's the maximum a human body could achieve? Bolt looks like he's got the potential to do 9.5, but is 9 seconds possible? 50 years ago I'm sure people would have thought you were mental if you suggested 9.5. It's astonishing that the records been slashed by 2 tenths of a second in the last 10 years, it took 39 years between 1960 and 1999 for the same drop.
Bolt's runs are astonishing and I'm sure he'll break the record again, but how long will it be before someone else tops him? In our lifetimes? I guess it's just luck when a person comes along that can build on what's gone before.

I just want him to go flat out in a race......I bet he has broken 9 seconds in training.
Do they get money for breaking the record? Like that story I heard about the pole vault woman, who broke it by 1cm everytime she did the jump, so to claim the cash everytime for breaking a world record.

i think he can get into the 8 seconds, every race ive seen of his he only actualy runs flat out for 70 to 80 metres and then just celebrates for the last 20.

The Youtube link has gone but it's on the BBC...I especially enjoy the fat bloke keeping up with Bolt about 1 minute into the clip. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/athletics/8204381.stm

There's no way he is running 0.6 seconds slower than he could possibly do at the moment. I think he will get below 9.5 seconds at some point but 9 seconds is a huge drop and I can't see him doing that. Even if he is going slower for the last 20 metres, he is still going extremely quickly, so it's not going to cost him half a second, maybe a tenth or two at the very most. Great to see though and I hope he breaks it again soon.

I agree BWB. Bolt is amazing but people are overhyping him when there is no need. I think he could register a time of 9.4 which is about another 2 or 3 metres faster, a sub 9 second time would mean he would have beaten Tyson Gay by about 10 metres which even if he didn't slow down is not going to happen when Gay runs that sort of time.

I'm almost 100% sure he's clean, but i can't be the only one with that nagging doubt in the back of mind?
Its a sad indicment of the state athletics is in
Quite...it may be a shame for Bolt if he is clean, but the nature of his record and suspicions about sprinters and then Jamaican sprinters means the average sport's fan will take this with a big ?.

The funniest thing is when Bolt is celebrating watch the photograpeher (bald, goatee, brown t-shirt)chasing after him for his pic. The little fat man can't keep up even when Bolt is jogging!!
Once the pic is taken the photographer in question turns and puffs his cheeks out coz he's knackered!!
Hilarious!!

Sorry Jessica Ennis, we should be congratulating you as well! She will be the face of the 2012 Games.
It's good to see Ennis is following in the footsteps of Sotherton, that is being fit and a medal winner.

I hate watching Athletics and of all of it I find 100m sprints the most boring spectacle, I fear I'm in the tiny minority when I say I'm interested in most sports and follow most sports, so whilst I should appreciate what he's done, I couldn't give a fuck.
