i think kingy put on a town jacket and went into our dug out

Smiley Thought the same thing. Only Amankwha and Marshall combined were less effective than Heywood was!

Sometimes firendlies are fun to watch and give you false hope for the future. Sometimes they are shitty dull reality checks. This was the latter. You never can tell, but we still look short of creativity along with the obvious strkers.

agreed batch- we didn't give paynter or macklin the ball in any positions to be positive.

on the plus side though we're not a bunch of cocks like half the plymouth team. if it were a proper league game and there wasn't have a cunt for a ref mincing about the pitch i think they could've been in some trouble

Nah, if it was Kingy he would have signed a striker.

7 years ago today we paid 50k for a certain Sam Parkin.

Change the fucking record. Its getting boring now.

Last season Malice Maurpas, missed targets and bought what was available.  We had a large squad of players of not quite good enough quality, barring some exceptions.

This season, a team is being crafted from back to front, but so far signing strikers has obviously been a problem.  So we lose a friendly to a Championship side while playing with only one recognized striker.  I don't think that D.W. would have been showing the world his plans for a make-shift striker the week before season opening.  I expect McGovern will play up front against Gillingham with Paynter.  Gillingham are not Plymouth Argyle.

D.W. will get a loan player or two when players are available, and will sign a permanent striker to compliment Paynter.

We were shocking today, half the players didn't look interested. You'd have thought players like JPM and Easton would have gone out there to prove a point but we created very little going forward until Wilson brought on Macca and O'Brien. I'm not worried about the result - we lost out to two fortuitous goals against a team from a higher division - but I would have liked to have seen a bit more cutting edge and some kind of effort to get the ball to the front pair on the deck.

plymouths defenders could take a touch and zip it up to their strikers feet bypassing our midfield. it was all very nice to watch and i hope the town lads learn from it

Everyone sees it differently. I thought JPM  looked our most creative option today. O'Brien got into some good positions, granted. Macca was garbage.

thought we was poor today, not too concerned with the performance, with the new season only being a week away no one wants to get injured

that was quite dull.

lescinel looked like a different player from tues night and nobody particularly impressed. wasn't too keen on the formation either.

still, friendlies mean fuck all..... right?

Lucas scores own goal
He did, but just leaving it like that is slightly harsh. It was a very good strike which hit the bar and cannoned into the back of his head and went in. It wasn't like he dropped the ball over the line and threw it into his own net or anything.

Those barks he does sound more than ever like a seal or a walrus or something - I kept wanted to throw him some fish

I was more bemused as to why Rory Fallon got a such good reception

the brace at Luton, the over head kick against City, the play off goal at Brighton.

being one of the only players who looked like he gave a shit in our relegation season before he fucked off to Swansea

the winner against City on TV Smiley
