It's D-Day for Cherno

DANNY Wilson will decide on the fate of triallist Cherno Samba over the weekend, as Town’s pre-season tour comes to a close.

I don't think we'll sign him unless its on a short term deal a la Razak last season.

We really need to sign a couple of strikers soon though, we are now getting to Pre-season territory and it would be good to get them in this week so we aren't scrabbling around with desperation signings as we run out of time.

Perhaps the forum member who went out to Austria can comment on Cherno's performances for us Smiley

Its time like now I wonder why we released Corr, Sturrock, Joyce and Razak.

I'd probably perfer most of those upfront to Samba or Peacock.

I agree Dv. This is where i reckon wilson has put all his eggs in 1 basket and not expected to be turned down like he has. On a seperate note i would try for that Bauza at Swansea

He looked decent in that reserve game we watched. Of course Razak scored a hat trick in that game.

I know Corr was a fitness issuse but right now I wish we'd kept Corr and Razak maybe even Sturrock to!!!!

Our forward like is obviously looking weaker but none of the strikers (striker?!) we are looking at is the ideal partner for Paynter.

Obviously Id like to see Samba for myself before I slag him off. But I cant see the bloke starting.

Weve set fantastic high standards with all the other players we have bought in. We said we wanted a small squad?

Worst comes to it we will have to get into the loan market. We dont need more squad fillers, even strikers.

I do get the feeling that Wilson may expect to see Paynter step up and be more prolific, maybe play with one up and 2 wide.

Paynter is now of teh rightsort of age and experience to kick on and become a 20 goal man.

Think Joyce will score for fun for Torquay...its bvious DW wants speed in the striker he plays up with Paynter....they dont come cheap but feel Fitton may have to dig deep and go for someone pricey.
