Fair price I think - as fans we will never know the fine details of these deals, that's just the way it is.

The guy has a lot of potential but I wouldn't necessarily back him to go all the way to the top - that's a massive jump - I'll be watching his progress with interest next season.

I'm not sure would could have asked for more - 32 goals and something like a 700% profit.  Can't complain.  Although many will.

Everyone knows Cox is going to the top in pretty much the same we 'knew' SSP was going to the top in 2005 (ie we know bugger all).

but as i said before Cox is a far far better player than SSP ever was.

good point, so are we infact only going to get around £875,000?  (thats around 60% right, just off the cuff figure in my head)

If the 40% sell-on is right (and I've seen nothing official to state that it is), Reading would receive about £520,000 (40% of the profit) assuming we paid £200,000 in the first place which seems to be the commonly quoted figure.

That would leave us with just under £1 million up front. The add-ons would also be split 60/40.

I said some time ago that I thought fair value for Cox was £1.5 million so Im not disappointed at all with the fee. If more clubs had entered the bidding we may have got more, but it seems like only WBA were prepared to show the colour of their money.

Given that he has never played above League One level, has only a year left on his contract, and has made it pretty plain that he wants to move on, I think its a very good deal for the club.

West Brom is probably a good club for him to go to because the add-ons likely include a payment if they get promoted which is quite likely. They are also quite likely to go straight back down again, so if he does score goal in the meantime, we may profit from a hefty sell on percentage ourselves in due course.

Its clearly part of the business plan to speculate on young players and hope to realise a profit after a couple of years or so. If we re-invest the money wisely (and I have confidence that Wilson will do that), its a good strategy.

"Hello darkness my old friend...." Smiley

We'll replace him adequately, the newbie may not score as many goals but players come and go. We need others to put their shift in in the goalscoring department anyway.

Over to you Mr. Wilson...

Club record fee isn't it?

Sorry if it's been mentioned elsewhere.

and for the defence put their shift in conceding fewer, i'd be surprised if our GS to GC ratio is as bad as it was last season which will help no end

The same initial fee as Kevin Horlock but will be our highest with add-ons.

Best of luck Coxy, and hopefully he'll score a few against the plastics and Shitty next season, and hopefully the town fans will show their appreciation in just under 3 weeks time at the CG.
