You may not be aware but next week, all  UK mobiles will be on a  directory which will mean that anyone will be able to access the numbers so will be open for cold calling.  It is easy to unsubscribe but it must
be done before the beginning of next week to make sure that you are ex directory.  You may want to unsubscribe any personal mobiles or advise friends and family accordingly. Removal is recommended by the BBC.

 

Follow this link and go to the home page, then select Ex-Directory at the top right and follow the instructions which are quite painless

My understanding is that your number will only be made available if you give permission.

For example, if La Roux wanted my number she could use this telephone directory, someone will get in touch with me and I will have the opportunity to say "no absolutely not".

If however it was Natasha Khan from Bat For Lashes then I would probably allow it to happen.

Presumably being registered with the TPS stops cold calls from the directory.

I'll ex-directory my number just in case.
